Did you evaluate the possibility of selling a PDF copy from your website yourself? I am not author but based on my experience with the lonely planet guides as well as a couple of books from the "pragmatic programmers" I started liking the ease of using the e-books.
That said it is also important that your book is discoverable by it's target audience. Getting it published from the likes of O'Reilly would make it easy for many people who are looking for open-source related books (thats where I would first search), but if you think that your book has enough unique stuff and that you can make it easily discoverable over the search engines, nothing like publishing it in the form of an e-book (from your own website)!
I know that a car dealer would not do that to me, but at the same time, he would not ask me to accept a EULA to use the steering wheel. Let Lenovo ask the user to accept the EULA before purchasing the computer and then I see your argument logical.
The shape looks familiar on Indian roads and even the steering wheel which has an "R" makes me think of the electric cars branded Reva in India.
Is the the same thing? You can find Reva's home page at http://www.revaindia.com/
... thats a managers way of putting their mistakes in words. Managers always say that the code id complicated when talking to the outside world... when it comes to talking to the workers, its always simple code!
Moreover, by the time they finish developing it, they would find Linux or OS X better, and probably redefine their requirements, thus taking another year and so goes the vicious circle.
Its not just OpenOffice....
A few things in the past can't stop me from thinking that Google is behind firefox too... Here are a couple of them:
1.Default start page for firefox at http://www.google.com/firefox
2.XUL Search for mozilla/firefox sidebar at http://www.google.com/mozilla/google.xul
3.Ben Goodger - lead firefox developer joins Google.
God knows what google is up to!
"In a widely expected move, International Business Machines Corp. said it is restructuring its operations to make them leaner and nimbler, slashing between 10,000 and 13,000 jobs, mostly in Europe, and taking a second quarter charge in the process." says the yahoo-technology article about the same.
Apart from that IBM did start laying off its workforce even before announcing the finantial results... right?

Good to see developments that help the blind... but how many of them would really use this robot? For those who are interested and try it, can the robot justify the money that they would have to shell out?
I have seen many robots, some which make way through the traffic on road, some which can park vehicles and some that play soccer... most of them performed well in ideal situations, but it would take a lot of time before these machines can practically be put to use... please correct me if I am wrong!
Have been a regular user of wine (specially to play many of those funny little flash games)... most of them work wonderfully well...
I wish I could even use WINE to develop applications for windows tooo (not that I develop many)... That would help me completely free the win partition on my system.
Kudos WINE team... many of us are looking forward to use the stable versions!
Government taken control of KDE project???

I only know that the KDE project was planning to switch to subversions since more than an year and finally they did it.
really... Kongratulations.
I don't know how many people come to slashdot for reading the comments, but I am one of them... Many readers like reading the comments and not just the main article. In such a case, readers help the magazines popularity! Do they really need to pay for writing comments too?
... before the municipalities claim copyrights over photos taken in cities!
