    The minute we make it mandatory for bots to announce themselves, every business in existence will create "no automated bots" policies (just like every major website does now) and simply auto disconnect any calls from bots, at which point all the bots become useless.

    So no, we shouldn't force bots to announce themselves (unless we don't want bots at all).

    We haven't got a clue how the phenomenon of 'consciousness' 'self awareness' or 'sentience' actually works in our own brains;

    Well, this is just utter bullshit. We have plenty of clues to how it works, and some pretty good ideas on how to recreate it and what properties it must have.

    This is the kind of unmitigated nonsense that philosophers usually spill when they are completely ignorant of the current state of scientific understanding.

    Lastly, you obviously don't know what "sentience" means: it is simply the ability to have sensations, and we understand that quite well.

    I've been reading stories in removing bias from algorithms but still don't get it. What is an algorithm bias? If the results don't have perfectly flat distribution across sex, race, religion, and other protected groups?

    That's because calling it "algorithm bias" is a category error. Algorithms can't be biased (unless explicitly so...)

    What they really mean is "data bias" or GIGO - but because people don't understand the difference between process and data, they're erroneously targeting the process for correction
