Dr. Ming, who *now* has an undergraduate degree in cognitive neuroscience from the University of California, San Diego, a Ph.D. from Carnegie Mellon in psychology and computational neuroscience and completed a fellowship at Stanford -- *after* flopping at college, kicking around at various jobs, contemplating suicide, and hitting the proverbial bottom -- is working to identify talented non-traditionally trained/skilled potential employees. Interesting.
More interesting, from both an individual and societal standpoint, is that she only noticed this after completing gender transformation from male to female (props to her) and started being treated differently than when she was male.
wait 'til a bunch of peeping tom videos start appearing, or people taking videos of kids on the beach, or until someone with glass gets shot because a dealer thinks they might have recorded that drug deal.
But, but Eric says:
Schmidt cautioned against jumping to the worst conclusions, saying that society always tends to adapt to new technologies — and he's hoping for etiquette rather than government regulation.
Surely this "etiquette" he mentions will save us all from ourselves.
Archer has amnesia, brought about by the trauma of watching his mother get married, and believes he is now a fry cook at a burger joint. When he inexplicably stops a KGB attempt on his life, he flees to a spa, where ISIS tries to bring back his memories.
Note: This episode features a crossover with FOX's animated show, Bob's Burgers, which also features H. Jon Benjamin. The setting and characters of Bob's Burgers were portrayed using the animation style from Archer.
How would you change if you had instant brain-level access to all information. How would you change if you were twice as smart as you are now. How about ten times as smart? (Don't answer, truth is, you're not smart enough to know). The word 'want' might not apply at all to someone 1000 times smarter than us.
I'm smart enough to know that "Smart" and "Technologically Advanced" are not the same thing.
I use Thunderbird to POP my mail down to my local desktop at home. The server copy is *not* retained. Furthermore, I don't even know my ISP mail and Gmail passwords off hand - they're stored in my local mail client, which, as I mentioned, is a desktop at home.
Meh, my phone integrates to the sound system of the car and is entirely hands free. I can even answer the call with a button on the steering wheel. If you're allowed to talk to passengers....
Our review shows that talking on the phone, regardless of phone type, has negative impacts on performance especially in detecting and identifying events. Performance while using a hands-free phone was rarely found to be better than when using a handheld phone. Some studies found that drivers compensate for the deleterious effects of cell phone use when using a handheld phone but neglect to do so when using a hands-free phone.
Typical real-world vs. "guy" measurement. (right girls?)
Hopefully Adria Richards will not read your comment.
Although, I could be implying the example, "I caught a fish this big..."
As for Ms. Richards... She has many valid points, but often seems to choose the wrong battles and/or focus on things that, while apparently important to her, are actually rather trivial and/or harmless in reality. Many jokes may be inappropriate, but finding offense is a task for the small minded and/or insecure. Perhaps she doth protest way too much. My heart goes out to her for standing up for what she believes and suffering the consequences, but in her methods, she's also demonstrated some jerky behavior herself. Perhaps she feels the ends justify the means (that usually doesn't end well for anyone).
Dropcam has a 100 percent employee retention rate — no one who has joined the 4-year-old company has ever left.
Not a surprise in this crap economy. How many have been fired? In the '80s I worked for a very small company with an extended 100% retention rate; nothing lasts forever.
Otherwise, I generally agree with the sentiment. As for "brogrammers," there's no evidence that young, single, childless males are better than other combinations and I'd argue that herd ("gaggle" -- "braggle"?) of them is a recipe for disaster. Varied experience and perspective are more helpful in the long run.
It's a game of physics, hundred plus mile an hour fastballs through palmballs. It's Mike Scioscia "smallball" vs. the New York Yankees payroll. It's Spring training vs. World Series vs. World Baseball Classic. It's dirt poor kids in sandlots in the Dominican Republic or Venezuela making it to The Show and becoming national heroes. It's seeing Fernando Valenzuela playing against the Calgary Cannons, fighting his way back into the majors (he made it).
Beats the crap out of shit like the NFL and NBA and there's no cheerleaders or glitzy half-time shows.
To all that I simply reply, "Zzzzzzzzz". I feel the same about football and basketball.
You already use Java but you don't know. Lots of those websites you visit use Java at the server side to process your requests (if we forget usage of Java on mobile phones).
Java is almost the default language in financial, insurance and healthcare applications.
At the 2005 JavaOne trade show, it was announced that Sun Microsystems' Java cross-platform software environment would be included in all Blu-ray Disc players as a mandatory part of the standard. Java is used to implement interactive menus on Blu-ray Discs, as opposed to the method used on DVD-video discs.

It's too late for "Firefly" (or is it?)
Well... After watching Serenity I'd say it's too late for Book and Wash.
And yes, Bob's Burgers is good, though not in the way most people think. Especially with the same actor playing Bob and Archer.
Or both at the same time. See Season 4, Episode 1, "Fugue and Riffs" - from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Archer_episodes :
Archer has amnesia, brought about by the trauma of watching his mother get married, and believes he is now a fry cook at a burger joint. When he inexplicably stops a KGB attempt on his life, he flees to a spa, where ISIS tries to bring back his memories.

You better call Captain Planet, South America.
Because little Jeff Bezos ain't giving that up without a serious fight.
Obviously, Jeff can't see the forest for the trees...

You're a dick. Emacs did my haircut, and now it feels sad.

...what we need is tinfoil wallets!
(all joking aside, when I got my RFID enhanced driver's license I went out and got an RFID shielded wallet).
All joking aside, when I got my RFID "enhanced" VISA card, I got a hammer and hole punch and punched through the chip.
Problem solved.
the card needed to be in physical contact with the back of the phone to be read, despite their "4 inches" claim.
Typical real-world vs. "guy" measurement. (right girls?)
"Can't talk on phone while driving on interstate" is a pretty big negative for me.
But probably safer for the rest of us, and the practice of phoning while driving will probably be unlawful most places soon anyway.

I didn't want to string up Jar-Jar.
I wanted to barbeque him and feed him to my dog. BIG difference.
Why don't you like your dog? :-)
Ya know, if uncle Jar Jar leaves them with Boss Nass while he's acting as senator in the burgeoning empire, that could make for a good TV show.
Already done. Turn on CSPAN.

Thank god for the ultra secure model we have now, where we have to secure the control plane on every device individually.
If you want your system to be secure, do the following - in order of desired security level:
Note: Usability will decrease as security level increases.
