No one takes the time to look at the number of the plastic before throwing it into the but.
They do not, and they are not going to in the future either.
Actually, I do. Our system only accepts #1 and #2. Many products, like yogurt and frozen meals, are packaged in #5 and I wish they'd switch to something more readily accepted for recycling. Some restaurants, like Panera, have switched from #5 plastic, to paper boxes, to #1 plastic for many of their take-out items, like salads... Some frozen meals are now packaged in compostable paper bowls rather than #5 plastic -- not actually sure if those are recyclable though, but I'm guessing, like the bottoms of pizza boxes, they're not.
If US students have achieved world domination, why are there such a high demand for H1-B Visa's?
Because US companies are willing to accept less if they can pay less -- and pocket the difference or funnel it to executives and/or shareholders. Good enough is usually good enough.
The team constructed a careful sampling mechanism to select senior (typically fourth year) computer science or equivalent students in each of the four countries,... The final selection included 6847 students from the U.S., 678 from China, 364 from India, and 551 from Russia.
By the typical fourth year (or equivalent) the US students were still in school while the Chinese students were hacking US companies, the Indian students were answering US help-desk calls and the Russian students were hacking US elections... Be sure to statistically adjust for that.
Infinitely many, but then again I'm designing a robot system that's specifically designed to kill humans.
But, like Octillion Killbots, Boeing 737 MAX planes have a preset kill limit. The only way to defeat them is to throw wave after wave of passengers at them...
If an engineer designs a plane so it overrides pilot inputs and pushes the nose down based on input from a single sensor, that engineer deserves to go to prison and be barred from practicing engineering for the rest of his life.
I'd argue that the Boeing and FAA managers that approved such a system should get locked up while the engineer should be sent back to engineering school and learn how to say "no" if asked to design such a system again.
... correct mistakes that editors probably made on purpose to begin with to slam or ridicule some target.
Kind of like/. moderators flagging something "troll" or "flamebait" when you post something demonstrably true/factual, like a direct quote or a news article, that (I'm guessing) they disagree / disapprove of -- often it's something about our President.
As President Trump consulted with administration officials Wednesday over whether Boeing’s 737 Max jetliners should be grounded after a crash killed more than 150 passengers in Ethiopia over the weekend, he shared his pointed opinion of the type of plane in question.
In his words, it “sucked.”
The president said Boeing 737s paled in comparison to the Boeing 757, known as Trump Force One, which he owns as a personal jet, according to White House and transportation officials who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss internal deliberations. He questioned why Boeing would keep building the model and opined that he never would have bought a 737 for the Trump Shuttle, the small airline he briefly ran three decades ago that relied on 727s before going bankrupt, the officials said....
Throughout the process, Trump played the role of aviation expert, despite having no formal training in aeronautics. Trump told advisers about the dynamics and equipment of various airplanes, comparing them to his 757.
His criticism of the 737 — the best-selling jetliner model in history — came just weeks after he attended an event in Hanoi celebrating Vietnam’s purchase of 100 of the Boeing jets.
So there you have it. Trump -- an "expert" at everything, including commercial airplanes and bankrupting airlines as well as casinos.
[ Sorry, couldn't resist a little dig at him here. ]
It's all very well that many of us use a mixture of cash, credit and debit cards,...
If you have a CC then there's no need/reason to use or even have a Debit card.
I would also argue that Debit cards are a bad idea as they're directly linked to your bank account. Sure they seem to offer protections similar to a CC, but if it's used fraudulently you have to ask to get your money back with a Debit card (and to rectify anything that went wrong with your account in the interim), rather than simply disputing and not paying for the disputed items as with a credit card. Simply put, a credit card is safer than a debit card.
Another risk in laser eye surgery is extreme dryness. My eyes are already on the dry side - damned if I'm going to gamble on having to depend on drops for the rest of my life, in addition to the possibility of poor night vision, or worse if the procedure goes sideways.
I can't even wear contacts - even when I ignore the irritation, all the ones I've tried cause my eyes to get gummy and blurry. I've resigned myself to wearing glasses, (and getting hosed because of it), for the rest of my life.
My wife had dry-eye due to poor tear production and she also couldn't wear contacts for any length of time (but could when she was younger). She got daily disposable contacts to wear on special occasions. The ophthalmic surgeon (head of Ophthalmic Surgery at EVMS) she saw about getting PRK (he only did PRK and said he spent half his time fixing LASIK complications done by others) said she wasn't a good candidate for laser-eye surgery because of her dry eye and poor tear production (he even tested her by putting plugs in her tear ducts). Hopefully any other reputable PRK/LASEK/LASIK provider would have said the same thing...
I am a millennial with a good paying job with no debt and money in my pocket.
I go out of my way to use cash and avoid credit cards.
I'm a little older, but also debt-free and plenty of income, savings and investments. I use cash *and* credit cards, which aren't a problem if (a) they're no-fee and (b) you pay them off completely every month. Having and using them responsibly also helps your credit score -- which helps me as even my mortgage is paid off -- and you get a one-month float on your money... There's really no reason to avoid them unless you're irresponsible or stupid.
Perfect, now the sneaky tax auditors won't have a clue when I move my money out of the high taxed state of NY! They've been auditing me and have asked for my boarding records for my dog, since I boarded her while I was in Florida for 7 months. They told me I'm still a primary NY resident since I boarded her here in Long Island. What a bunch of crap to steal my money.
Probably because Florida doesn't have state tax. If you had paid taxes there, NY would have given you credit for them, but since you didn't they want that money. (Virginia pulled this on me after my first year of college in Florida and then moving back to VA.)
Also, my future condolences about your pet dying in that Long Island kennel after NYC lays off an inspector or two due to decreased tax revenues because you snuck your money out of state and didn't pay your fair share of taxes.
"We want to identify the risk factors for those who get injured,...
I'd start with Newton's 3 Laws of Motion and Gravity (The force, not the film -- though I imagine her injuries and the orbital destruction would have been way worse had Dr. Ryan Stone been also riding an electric scooter...)
I'd like to follow-up with a note that something very similar was an underlying premise in the film Battlestar Galactica: Razor -- it's, obviously, very subtle...

(1) Flashing HDD firmware is a prerequisite for the snooping
(2) To exfiltrate captured data, either:
- (a) transmit it over the internet by modifying Linux operating system files to create a reverse shell with root privileges, or
- (b) storing it to disk for physical recovery at a later date.
(3) technique requires a fairly loud conversation to take place near the eavesdropping hard drive... like 75 dBA - 90 dBA, Which is pretty loud. Like lawn mower or food blender loud."
So... I need to (1) flash my disk hardware, (2) let someone break into my PC remotely or physically and (3) constantly yell at my PC, with the case open. I'll get right on all that. (To be fair, I have Windows on one system, so I already yell at it a LOT.)
Jesus, wouldn't it be *way* easier to plant either a physical microphone in the room and/or install ease-dropping software on the PC.
So, about the same price as Amazon Prime or Netflix but without any confidence that MoviePass will still exist in a year. No thanks.
Or as Melania calls it: "date night". :-)

The 7.9-inch option will, barring screen size, match the Air on specs.
And there's also a 7.9" model for men that's labeled 10.5" ...
I love the sound of Bluetooth compression.
Sorry, all I heard was, "lov Blutoth compreson".

If you could blot _that_ out I'd be well impressed.
Ya, but stuffing a kid into a PVC pipe might be going a bit too far, unless, of course, you're on United.

Wait... you're telling me that a sci-fi / fantasy / capeshit property is using allegory to make social commentary?
Wait! What? Al Gore is in Captain Marvell too?
A brilliant CEO doesn't commit blatant fraud that leads to the destruction of their company. She was a brilliant conman.
Next thing you know, she'll buy and bankrupt a few casinos and be the next Republican President of the US ... no, never mind, we're not *that* stupid.
