It's more like sitting on the sidewalk outside someone's house at night. Their porch light is on and you're reading a book by that light.
I like your analogy, but I disagree. It is more like running a splitter and a cable and stealing your neighbors cable TV. Or running an extension cord to a backyard outlet and stealing power. Or perhaps a cordless phone. People accept that they have to pay for electricity, phone, but the internet should be free? why?
The fact that it is a wireless transmission is moot.
If they had've pulled a MS and made their OS run on peecee's, they would've lost.
Wait. Microsoft has like over 90 percent of the desktop business and apple has less than 10 percent and Apple has "won"?
What next, will apple line their streets with trees so that MS can march in the shade?
I agree. I mean if you were making a chart with number of deaths per millions (or billions) of miles travelled, is there anything safer than NASA?
Ask the NHSTA what the automobile death rate is.
The astronauts still realize the risk. I believe it is an off-shoot of our 'everyone-has-to-blame-everyone' society.
Didn't Byte magazine used to have a 'centerfold' that was like a 20 page basic program you could type in to your pc LINE BY LINE?
I tried it once, and gave up after entering way too many typos!

If all the moustrap company has to do is change their advertising to become illegal, then apparently all that the P2P software developers need to do is add a line on their website that says, "This is a great way to share NON-copyrighted files"
Then the case is moot, right?

See why I'm not a lawyer? You said it much better than I. But at least you knew my point.
By the way, my inbox has been slashdotted. I should have never opened my mouth. LOL

I was just using firearms as an example. I realize that doing bodily harm is illegal. But I guess so is distributing copyrighted materials.
I mean you could probably kill someone with a mouse trap. Is the mouse trap company liable?
I could also use a pen and paper to copy the lyrics and musical notes to a song down on a sheet of paper, then photocopy them and give them away to everyone I know. Are the pencil and paper companies liable?
I don't use Grokster. Does it say anywhere on their website or in their EULA that the program can be used to distribute COPYRIGHTED material?
"One who distributes a device with the object of promoting its use to infringe copyright... is liable for the resulting acts of infringement by third parties using the device, regardless of the device's lawful uses."
I hate to extend things, however, couldn't a similar extention be applied to almost anything?
Let's try firearms...
How does this sound.....
"One who distributes a device with the object of promoting its use to DO BODILY HARM... is liable for the resulting acts of BODILY HARM by third parties using the device, regardless of the device's lawful uses."
You could replace almost ANYTHING. I think they have set a VERY POOR precedent. All IMHO of course...

Uhh....you are doing something wrong if you are getting 11mbps.
Besides, I'm not all that concerned with speed since the backup is automated and goes in the middle of the night.
I use incremental backups, so the first one took a while, but after that its a snap.
I agree. I have a USB external HD that I put together myself. It has a 250gb drive in it. Once a week "My Documents" is backed up to it. No need for a NAS. Just share the drive on your network from the PC it is hooked up to.
My 2 cents. Free.
Well, if it is on the internet, it must be true!...
Oh and here is the first line of that link..
Many people believe that Spontaneous Human Combustion was first documented in such early texts as the Bible, but, scientifically speaking, these accounts are too old and secondhand to be seen as reliable evidence.
And under certain other conditions, people have been known to burst in to flames.
Oh wait, no they haven't.
Come on, seriously, do you have ANY idea how many flash drives are currently brought on Airplanes?
I've brought my digital camera, MP3 Player, and thumbdrive, all which have flash memory/drives. No fires.
There was a company out of South Florida called Galacticomm. They ran a game called Faazuul or Freezuul or something like that. Anyways, it had a max of 16 players and it was all text based. You had to put together objects to make new stuff and so on...
This was WAY ahead of it's time. Around the mid to late 1980's.
I can remember setting my computer to auto-dial to try and connect. That or call someone who I KNEW was playing and have the call-waiting signal disconnect their modem!
This story reminded me that a few years back...probably around 1998...Amazon sent me a Coffee Tumbler as a thank you for being a good customer.
I guess that program got too expensive. In fact I emailed them to see if I could get another since I lost the one and they where like, "Uhh...we sent you a what?"
I have no idea what link you are looking at. The walmart link is for this product:
The new value-priced ilo DVDR05 DVD Recorder lets you record to inexpensive, reliable DVD+R/RW discs from the built-in TV Tuner or any video source. Or, connect your VCR and transfer your VHS movies to DVD discs for longer-lasting and better-looking movies. Own a camcorder? Hook it up to the DVD recorder's DV connector, IEEE 1394, and put your home movies onto DVD discs to share with family and friends.
You must be talking about some other post.

I saw that comment too, but the actual article says that he is a HE. And if my aunt had testicles, she'd be my uncle!
Wait..er...the odds of him actually having a girlfriend are 83,431 to 1.

Not to mention the Russians...

Now where can I get some SO FINE JEANS?

So does it look bigger to my dog also? He doesn't appear to have a human mind. (At least not that I can tell).
Uhhh..I subscribe because I like the site and want to support it. (watches as your theory explodes in your face)
Rocks? Everyone knows the moon is made of cheese. Yours Truly, The Dairy Farmers of America.

Ahh...we must have been looking at separate links. Here is the link from one of the parent posts. http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.gsp?product _id=3610576

Umm..No...he pointed to a DVD RECORDER. Check it again.
One of the funniest posts I've read in a LONG time.
