Someone needs to get the European Computer Driving Licence Foundation (ECDL-F) to embrace Open Office! Then you shall see the difference. ECDL are the standard exams that one needs to be cometent on in order to show computing skills. Currently the market is asking for ECDL but there are still businesses that don't knwo about it. But all these are changing cause European
well, we have 10000 job cuts at minimum. With an average of 2000 dollars per month we have 20 000 000 monthly savings. At 12 months we find that we have 240 000 000 a year. That's a quarter of a billion. Does it worth for so many people to lose their jobs? Not to me... but obviously it does to IBM.
err... if michael moore ended up dead imagine who they would have blamed!!! IT WOULDN'T BE YOU!!
Try applying your own "questions" back to yourself
I wonder weather the grand parent has done that!! How about you? Have you tried it?
This whole attitude of "How do you know? How can you be so sure? Were you there?" is a 5-years-old-kid argument. YOU weren't there either.
Oh and you were, so you came out here to tell me that!!! At least i watched it in the news and i read it over time in web sites! The whole point here is that the grandparent was talking out of his ass. and you are doing the same right now! I was trying to point out the obvious but... you came along.
But of course, any astute anti-American conspiracy theorist would say that the pictures and timestamps can easily be faked.
Yes actually i do. Who owns the satellites?
In short, it doesn't matter what ANYONE says
I agree.
And even if THAT happened, you would believe the Americans coerced the statements.
No i wouldn't! since they came out and said that i wouldn't. But of course it always depends who is reporting it now isn't it!!
Well nice try but you are not convincing at all!!! Try elsewhere!!
...American soldiers held responsible for what is, essentially, a tragic circumstance in a war zone.
I wouldn't call that a tragic accident. For anyone watching the news would have known that this was an attempt to murder Sgrena(the reporter that was in the car with Calipari (the dead agent of Italy). Why? Because Sgrena was Anti America. She didn't like what the US was doing(or maybe the reasons behind it) and so she was being loud in the italian news papers. Imagine that now with an already pissed off crowd against Burlusconi. pursonally i wouldn't be surprised if Burlosconi was behind it.
The Italians in the car weren't expecting a roadblock at that location, and the Americans didn't know about the rescue operation that was in progress...
Let me ask you that: How do you know? How can you be so sure? were you there?
what i would like to see in firefox it's a feature (which will be off by default), which download updates and installs them without any user interaction. that way i may get some peace from having to download and upgrade firefox for people that i have helped install.
Well, i downloaded it once and i installed it on 20 computers! I have also passed copies to a few people (10 -15)! I don't think it is so easy to make a true estimate.
why wouldn't OGG get taxed? They are not taxing the actual file format are they?

Dutch Pass iPod Tax
·
· Score: 3, Interesting
the thing to be wondered is wether or not people will realize that the added tax is going to the recording industry. How is this tax going to be presented? Is it going to be on the receipt to whom the tax is going? Is it going to be presented as just another government tax(VAT for example)?
If the tax is presented as it is (payable to recording industry) then the consumers might get the feeling you just mentioned. otherwise i don't think they are going to know to whom they are paying the tax.
Also with a high price like that (for a 60GB) how many sales are they going to lose(ipod or similar devices)?
Does apple/samsung/teac and every other company who produce these devices have anything to say about it ?
The client will also be open to third party plug-ins.
Well i do hope they have some security in mind with those plugins! In the local news a few nights ago it was said that someone turned a webcam on to a 16 year old girl on msn messenger. After he took some ensaulting pictures of her, he (was caught after all) was blackmaling the girl!
I don't think it's the user base that gives apple the advantage of releasing more often, but rather the control of the hardware. Apple has complete control of the hardware while Microsoft has only control of their OS.
personally i think that if you love CS, you should stick with it! From what i am seeing there are a million projects in CS that remain unsolved! That's why there is research going on in universities right? Not trying to insult you by all means, but maybe you got in CS cause of other reasons, other than the love in the subject? When my students or my students' parents ask me what shall they (there kids) study i always tell them study what you love the most! even if the jobs are not many, doing somehting that you really love will give you the success you are seeking! But, do something that you don't really love (do it for the money) and i guarantee you'll fail! why? because in the long run you'll get sick of doing something that you don't like!
thank you for the offer! but after i wrote the post i have searched about the subject with google and came up with a website http://isnoop.net/gmail and i got an account through them. Thank you!!
Gmail...
Wow, i am kind of sick just hearing about Gmail and yet i have not seen anything! I read gmail reports all over the web, yet i see nothing. where is my account? Is google playing favorite with some people? Why is people still talking about gmail since we(Joe Users) are not able to get an account? Or does everybody else has an account except me? Is there a conspiracy going on against me ?
thinking about it, why would Joe User want to upgrade his PC, if there is not any advantages to him. Think about it, someone is buying today a computer for about 600-700 dollars. the computer happily works for the years to come. The processors have become fast enough to work for everything that a user wants. Joe happily uses his PC to browse the web for the next 10 years. He is using email, internet and maybe excel / word / open office (take your pick). is there anything, some kind of technology that will actually appear and make people want / need to upgrade? I'm not talking about the power users nor the gamers. How is the industry going to make people upgrade their PCs if their PC is working just fine? Dual core means nothing to normal users.
isn't that what they have been doing so far? Considering the service packs are fixes for the OS alone, i consider their products beta until they release SP4.
Well Mr. Langa seems to have a web site. Here is the link !
And here you have a link to the article on his homepage (in case it gets/.ed on the front page).
Well taking a quick look at what he wrote i think it's the type of guy who actually enjoys starting flame wars so i wouldn't bother too much by him!
I would only like to tell him that I dissagree with him and he is a terrible writer cause he is using too much sarcasm in his writing. take for example this part from his essay:
The last time I mentioned a similar US-CERT finding, by the way, Linux partisans leapt up to tell me that US-CERT didn't know what it was doing. Linux *couldn't* have more security flaws than Windows! Everyone *knows* that Open Source software is so much better than anything from Microsoft--- right?
Also take from example this:
I wrote that article to try to help readers interested in FireFox in particular and Open Source in general to make an informed decision. There are many, many excellent, proven, objective benefits to switching to Open Source software--- but there's also a lot of misinformation, and some very, very *bad* reasons to switch.
I think that he is doing what he is preaching against: Misinformation
But wait, they're getting something out of it, they're getting a tax writeoff and lots of PR! HOLY CRAP! What is this world coming to.
just out of curiosity why is it google's fault if some guy stumbled upon google's philantrhopy web page and posted it on slashdot? I haven't seen any other news source reporting on it. What is your point exactly?

In, say 5 years time, won't the recording industry be doing nothing but collecting taxes?
And that's what i call a scary thought!!!
Guess it's time to start marketing OGG players?
