Considering the observation that Sculley makes that MS is all about hiring geeks and smart people and Apple is all about hiring designers and marketers ("Apple is a designers company, not an engineers company," as he says), it still amazes me that MS is so bashed on/. and Apple so celebrated.
That's because Microsoft has been too busy proving the opposite of the infinite monkey theorem: "Thousands of smart geeks typing on thousands of typewriters for an infinite amount of time will almost surely create the shittiest piece of work known to man."
Alright... you compare Apple shares to cash, which is fair enough. I assume though you know what buying cash is commonly called: currency speculation. As the term sort of gives away, it's speculation; very volatile with a rate of return to unpredictable to qualify as investment. This is exactly what the OP stated. Hence calling him/her a twit was uncalled for.

That's what I do, and it works great, especially if you use a tile based window manager or plugin (e.g. an IDE on the left half and a browser on the right half).
Video games will be recognized as art when they are displayed in a museum where retired baby boomers can be led around by a guide specializing in the art history of digital post-modernism. Oh, of course after glowing reviews in the appropriate sections of the NYT et al.
Really? Did you you even read the Google translation? I think it's pretty damn good for machine translation. At least it seems to have improved a lot since a few years ago. And don't forget to configure your wireless card to always randomize its MAC address ("macchanger -A") before associating with a wireless network. People have been busted before simply because they forgot this seemingly trivial detail.
If you want to be extra cautious, you'll use linux and script the whole procedure beforehand. That way you can keep your laptop/handheld in your bag/pocket and just walk/drive/cycle through any (preferably busy) street to accomplish your mission.
You're entitled to your opinion, but not your 'facts'.
The GP only made a series of statements. Surely he or she is entitled to make whatever statements he or she wishes. Which of them you consider facts, 'facts', falsehoods or opinions is your choice. Please take responsibility for your own decision making!
I guess the answer is too obvious for you to see. How do humans treat other species of nature with inferior intelligence? We hunt, eat, breed, pet and/or protect them, but in any case we subject them to our whims. This singularity would make us one of them again.
Actually you're safe if you use a master password with your password manager. This solution has the benefit that you can use any amount of unique strong passwords for different sites while you only need to remember one.
Uh huh, something big is going down... like what? An extra special pinku edition? Unless it involves at least four mean motherfuckin' horsemen I doubt I'll be losing any sleep over it.
The mafia and cybercriminals are very similar in that regard- you don't need to be hidden in a bunker somewhere, just be very good at separating yourself (be it through proxies, wardriven connections, a hired gang or expendable street thugs) from the instrumentalities of your crimes. "Everyone knows they did it" is nice, but it's not evidence.
The mafia as a collective might derive some benefits from gained notoriety, but for a solo cybercriminal being identified is rather undesirable. Although identification does indeed not necessarily provide proof of your crime(s), it does in pretty much any circumstance limit some of your freedoms. Having the extra attention of law enforcement agencies requires you to be extra careful of how (much) you express yourself and limits your freedom of movement. Surely "top cybercriminals" who value a carefree lifestyle will try to avoid such a scenario.
So if you have gigs of terrorist info that could get you sent away for life, just say you lost your keys and go away for 5 years max.
Huh? Come again? Unless the world has gone completely crazy, you are still innocent until proven otherwise. If you claim to have lost/forgotten the keys, the prosecutor will have to prove you are lying. If the prosecutor fails to do so, the judge is legally obliged to give you the benefit of the doubt and there would be no conviction at all!

Are you saying a rat -or a human- is not a machine?

Given that I'm vexingly ambivalent whether your username is icing on the irony, this level meta-irony at least is going way over my head ;)

I'm getting so sick and tired of reading comments like this on every /. article mentioning H2.
energy STORAGE =/= energy SOURCE. These 2 areas of engineering are distinct, so keep on topic, ok?
When talking about energy storage we only care about 3 things: density, degradation and safety.
H2 then, is obviously not ideal, but at least try to make your objections relevant.

No, I don't give a rat's ass about any of that. I welcome any truly superior overlords.

And all your homeys also read /. in their parents' basements, don't they?
Have you viewed any Debian mailing lists lately? :->
But, yeah I agree... at least anarchy is more "fun"!
pre-emptive strike: read TFA, moron.

It's actually better than the parent's proposal, because you're not directly dependant on the company you've exploited the software of.

No matter WHAT you write on it, someone will put it in a computer just to see what it does.
So WHAT?

By definition, the world's top cybercriminals will never be identified.
