    The summary talked about something called a "lightning field". As far as I am aware, there is no such thing. Can someone who is more knowledgeble about this tell us something? Or is it just a impressive name for a electo-mag field?

    Well, it is powered by Linux, and so far, at least, viruses have had a horrible time trying to infect them. Seeing that the market share of linux is still going to be terriblely low even after this, I doubt that security is a major problem.

    As I seem to recall, Ubuntu only installed one of those right out of the box (Firefox), you will have to download the rest of them.

    I have had various heat pumps that suck up 500 watts easily. a kilowatt PSU means that I won't have to get a extra PSU just for that heat pump.

    They may not know everything at the begining of class. However, they would be able to learn everything in 10% of time that it takes everybody else. Moving these kids though the system faster will save resources.
