switching compiler is not to be taken lightly either. sometimes code that works fine with one compiler won't work with another either due to bugs in the new compiler or due to bad assumptions made by the code itself.
thing is a small number of passengers means your fixed costs are spread over a much smaller number of passengers.
concorde flew for many years but only because its development was bailed out by governments.
first class isn't really a good comparison because first class is easy peasy to offer. its just different seating configuration not any big change to the plane.
if you are using a push based e-mail system (i belive pegasus on novell may be one from what i remember of it) then i can see how it could be very fast possiblly even faster than commercial IM systems
with a pop client pulling at a reasonable interval e-mails become far from instant.
concorde managed the flying faster than sound with a load of passengers but due to a combination of airlines holding off for the second model that never came, increaseing fuel prices, and the boeing 747 which reduced the price of normal air travel considerablly was a commercial flop that only flew at all due to government bailouts.
it can take as much or more delta-v to move between two different orbits as a ground launch takes
and by the time you reach orbit in the first place you have used most of your delta-v attemtping to double your crafts delta-v will almost certainly more than double the size of its fuel tanks etc for a given payload.
most first person shooters use some form of scripting language that allows people to make quite a lot of modifications without access to the source code.
the source is valuable to the community in three ways, firstly for porting to new operating systems/architectures, secondly for making changes to parts that aren't covered by the scripting system and thirdly because it allows true total conversions to be released as standalone downloads.
i wouldn't call over $200 cheap considering what phones go for
i guess its a case of which is worth more to you? the time it would take you to hack a cellphone or the extra cost of getting a proper gsm module rather than a cellphone
i'm not a usian myself but isn't 900mhz an unregulated band in your country so you possiblly could make something legal that would work with tri-band phones (iirc the base station controls the transmit power of the handset too so it should be able to keep that within limits).
remember those are the maximum fines though you'd have to look into case history to see if judges were giving out the fines in a reasonable way. (and remember if you set the limit too low you end up with rich guys making profit and sticking there finger up at the government).
there are several reasons for jail, different countries have different ideas as to which are most important and accordingly have very differnt jails.
1: to protect the public 2: to make others think twice before committing the crime. 3: to rehabilitate prisoners so that on release they don't re-offend. (many prison systems unfortunately have the opposite effect). 4: to get reven^W^Wpunish them for what they have done.
maybe i'll try a more recent vmware (last version i have tried was 3.x) sometime but from the versions i have tried its aimed at buisness users and totally unsuitable for games.
if replicators were invented in the current world my bet is that the military would try and take over complete control of thier use before the information on how to make them got too widespread to control.
replicators would change the world in many ways some of them nice some of them horrid. (imagine good quality high power firearms on demand without the need for a huge factory....)
back on topic though whilst sooner or later the world will have to adapt to mass communication and freely availible information thier are going to be a lot of vested interests trying to stop it.
right trouble is for the music industry that once someone gets something in a non-drm format (either from a CD or from cracking drm on a download or whatever) its going to be widely distributed pretty quickly.
i'm not sure of the details iirc the fee depends on places for which thier is a seperate rental contract or are seperately owned.
so if you rent a room as a student and have a TV in there you need your own TV license even if the owners of the house you are in already have one.

do you also have it set up so your users can message users on other jabber servers?

i tend to agree relying on voip is probablly not sensible with the current state of domestic internet access.
but using something and relying on it are different things entirely
if you give it the access it needs to become a supernode it can really rape your connection maxing out 100mbit is not unheared of!

iirc you can call firefox firefox what you can't do is compile and distribute binaries with the official branding on without permission.
if you compile with official branding off you get a globe without a fox as the logo the firefox name stays though.
there are two problems with having an exit at the back of a bus.
the first is that it wastes space that could be used for seating.
the second is if you don't man it (which means a second man on the bus) then people will jump on at the back to avoid paying the fare.

hmm i thought it was
0: ac or bad karma
1: good karma
1+1 karma bonus: excellent karma
hmm surely a vpn over the open internet can't properly support QOS

my experiance with dosbox is its slow as hell. even disney/virgin/east points the lion king didn't run at an acceptable speed.
as for multibooting yes you can do it but its a pita
what if you wan't the much greater compatibility with dos games etc that the 9x line offers?
iirc 3DR is a private company and as such thier finances aren't public so its hard to tell.
what about disreputable coders inside reputable companies?
