  1. Re:In what should be pointing out the obvious on How Web Advertising May Go · · Score: 1

There are a few good ad companies projectwonderful.com is one of the few ad servers i don't block simply because the webmaster using it has the power to reject ads they don't want on their site.

Their bidding system also usually keeps the same ad up for a good length of time with the webmaster being payed by time displayed not views/clicks/sales all of which invite fraud.

Viable encryption would have to be universal with the source shared to allow all the server and client platforms to work together.

We are talking about governments with effectively limitless access to computer power versus encryption light weight enough to run transparently on a low end cell phone it wouldn't be hard to make the ISP capture the encrypted traffic and decode later at your leisure.

Shit like this just says they have no idea how to do what they say they are going to do i remember reading an article a couple years ago proudly proclaiming the success of a 3 year investigation into providers of kiddie porn that resulted in 5 arrests come on anyone with some decent Google skills can probably find more than that in an hour

  12. Let's see on Video Game Actors Say They Don't Get Their Due · · Score: 1

Mario (Mario Bros. series) for many years, Samus (Metroid) for quite awhile, "Doom guy" (DOOM) Cloud Strife (FF VII), Link (Zelda), Chrono (Chrono Trigger), Ness (Earthbound) and countless more

What do they have in common? None of them said a word many didn't even have text dialog but they all grabbed on to the player and didn't let go. Many set the benchmark for their genera. How long were FPSs called "DOOM Clones"? How many RPGs are not compared to the Final Fantasy series? How many people still think Mario when they hear about a platformer?

Voices in games are good. Voices in games are nice. However Mario, Link, and Samus did not become the Nintendo trinity and characters recognized by gamer and non gamer alike over 20 years after their debut because of a VA but because of solid game play and compelling stories.
