Fact is the State of California forced one of the oil companies to sell an oil refinery they want to close two or three years ago. If the government didn't intervene no entrepreneur would of had a chance to buy it.
Two problems with entrepeneurs: 1. where do you buy the oil? A few companies own most of the refineries and domestic supply plus and have the market power to cut better deals on crude than the little one refinery guy will. 2. Who do you sell it to? The big three are owning a bigger and bigger percent of the retail gas stations. 3. What happens if the price goes down? The big three integrated firms can cut you off at the knees with their control of crude and retail.
Earth First opposes tree spiking, engages in peaceful, no-violent protest, and was car bombed by terrorists. How is that terrorist?
Oh, they opposed some of Bush's crony friends destroying our nation's thousand year old trees. Opposing a Bush crony, that is SSSOOO definately "terrorism" please.
Sierra Club does not fund Earth First either.
Get a clue you Anti-American freedom hater and go move to Iran where the state spies and tortures. I'm sure you will like it there away from pesky freedoms, like speech and privacy.
I dunno, I like my OS to provide more in the way of a GUI than is supported by HTML.
This problem is being solved by the Mozilla foundation today in the form of XUL and the XULrunner under development, with support from Google. If they drop the ball Macromedia (Flash) and MS (Avalon) or someone else will take over the market with their technology.
First you claim that all killing is bad. Then Saddam's killing of Iraqis everyday through violence and starvation is o.k.
First all war is bad then ask why "we are not going to attack them"? Well because they have Nuclear weapons already! Nuclear war in Korea would kill too many people for us to consider it. It's too late! That and the Russians are only brutalizing Chechens and would stop if the West had the backbone to push them hard on it. War would not be needed, only Bush and the EU to actually care about human rights. Don't hold your breath.
Americans are willing to die to liberate the people of Iraq and bring peace and democracy to the poor people there, including the Shiites and Kurds killed and starved daily by Saddam. And you are attacking them for daring to interfere with Saddam's Stalinist regime.
I don't trust Bush, despise Ashcroft, and I hate war, but a short war is a small price to bring freedoms and US-UN guided reconstuction to Iraq. Where would you rather live now UN-administered Bosnia (aiming to get in the EU someday), transitionally-governed Afghanistan (where women can work and drive again(unlike Saudi Arabia)), or Saddam-controlled Iraq? Now let's make the Iraq like the first (or at least 2nd). If George W. loots some oil and extends America's sphere of influence as a side effect, well that too is an acceptable price to pay. Or would you rather wet your pants and let Saddam keep killing innocent Iraqis because those "ragheads" aren't worth saving if Americans have to die to do it and can't handle democracy anyway?
How many protesters hate war and how many think that non-Americans aren't worth liberating? Look at your own prejudices.

The problem you describe is poor interconnections in the transit system. This is a symptom of poor system scheduling design. This is not a problem inherent in all transit.
Two solutions: 1. Schedule linking-trip times between lines to add up. The Bus/Tram would always meet with the other vehicle for quick tranfers at certain important junction points. No 12 minute wait for the bus at the light rail station or 17 minute wait at the transit center. 2. More direct service to reduce tranfers. An advantage Bus Rapid Transit is claiming over Light Rail is being able to run multiple lines over the same busway that enter and leave at diferent points. So many you get a bus or minibus that goes direct to the transit center without stopping.
Of course many commuter rail trains run people into a central downtown where if the office is somewhere in downtown, transit and walking and faster than a car at that point (in downtown) than driving and finding parking anyway. Another big advantage in commuter trains is that you can work/eat/sleep on the train, (none of which should be done while driving!) so you actually gain time.
"The fact of the matter is that browsing the web has because a fundamental feature of almost every gadget."
So I guess MS Office is part of the OS too? No it isn't. Just because everyone wants a browser or word processor on their computer doesn't mean they can co-mingle code or force-bundle tie it to the monopoly OS. Just ask the Appeals Court.
BZZT Wrong (A) The old standard was found dangerous years ago, Clinton just took forever because he was too busy with interns to care about people getting cancer. (B) Eisenhower created ANWR in the 50's when Billy and Georgey were still pissing in their pants. (C) Most stem-cells line are patent-restricted to the point of uselessness. As far as "qualifications" to teach, there has been study after study showing home schooled students do far better than the average because of the personal attention. Let's face it... teaching is important, but it's not rocket science.
This philosophy is exactly the problem in these discussions. Just because most everyone can teach 1-on-1 they think that teaching is easy. Guess what most literate people can write "Hello World!" in any language or balance a simple low-volume checkbook. We still need 6 figure programmers and accountants. Try teaching 35 children with four or five unruly ones, probably couldn't.
Now if you want to fund me and everyone else to stay home with our children when we have them that would be great but most people gripe at paying poverty wages for 1 to 20 teacher/student ratios. I doubt they want to pay 20x as much.

Check the monitors docs first that it is Mac compatible, most are but a few aren't.With memory just follow Apple's specs for exactly the right type and you can buy anyone's [go for quality brands if you're smart though, PC or Mac]. Video cards ATI has good drivers, 3Dfx will have a seperate Mac product for Voodoo5. I'm not sure where nVidea is right now.
OpenPlay does the same as DirectPlay except in a cross-platform open-source manner, thanks to the generousity of Apple who decided it was better freed and evolving that closed and used as a tool for OS lock-in.

We that is great an example of American ignorance and stereotypes that has caused us Americans to have such problems as the SUV craze. New small cars today are as safe or safer than those old big cars from 20 years ago with no ABS or other refinements of the last 20 years. They also have lower profit margins than big cars/SUV, hence the car makers FUD campaigns against small cars.

Uh well no. They DID raise the prices on the 400 mhz model but they raised the specs too. Unless of course you consider going from a PCI to a 2x AGP video card a downgrade.
