    I trained two people in India to do my job and then I got laid off. These two were great if you told them step by step exactly what to do but they were utterly incapable of figuring out what needed to be done. We have nothing to worry about with China and India. I got another engineering job before my severance ended because there is still demand here for people who can figure out what needs to be done.

    Fuel costs the same in Europe as it does in the US. That's right, it costs the same. It's the tax that is different. In Europe, they let their governments tax to a level that drives conservation. In the US, we don't think twice about driving a heavy empty SUVs to the corner to buy donuts because the tax is so low. You simply will not get elected if you favor higher fuel taxes, international community be damned.

    The space race paid for itself more than a thousandfold with all the advancements in technology despite having a solely symbolic purpose. The race is over and any additional money spent trying to send people into space for the same symbolic purpose is at best a thousandthfold return. May I add; replace "the Chinese" with "the Chinese totalitarian government"

    If the government demands that students drill repeatedly to pass standardized tests then, yes, we are hosed. If the government promotes innovation and creativity then we will continue to lead the world. You cannot teach innovation, you can only create an environment where innovation is revered, and then let it happen. Imagine giving grade school children a class in brainstorming rather than have them recite multiplication tables.

    Occupy Wall Street is protesting the banks taking bailout money from the government, the Tea Party is protesting the government giving bailout money to the banks.

    Yahoo has the Stocks button on the home page of every iPhone. Have they taken advantage of this prime location? I don't use it because news items are typically months old. Apple should auction this spot off to a start-up that will do something innovative with it.

    My 3G was made excruciatingly slow by iOS 4.0, waited months for their supposed "fix" with no word on what was wrong or even an apology. Then they stopped updating it, before my contract even ran out, permanently leaving all location tracking data. I sure don't want a 4 with it's antenna problems. If you asked me, I would say I want a 5 because almost anything would be an improvement.
