Oh yeah, wasnt even thinking about that. It's late.
We could possily end up using hybrid solid state and magnetic hard drvies. Write a GB to the disk and it stores it in the solid state cache within seconds, then writes it over the next minute to the magnetic disk. To a user it would be seamless. Best of both worlds. You culd also use the solid state area for your OS. Hmmm...
There is the possibility that what I jsut said was complete rubbish but a slim chance its not...
SATA-IO plans to further increase the maximum throughput of Serial ATA to 600 MB/s around the year 2007.

thats MB not Mb too. Basically an entire cd-r in a second when you think about it.
or if you use this definition: "It has been estimated that the books in the U.S. Library of Congress, one of the largest libraries in the world, would contain a total of about 20 terabytes if scanned in text format."
then its one library of congress per 9.7 hours... thats an overnight backup!
ok, figures and calculations could be way off, its late i'm tired
* Zune is the name of the project, the brand, and the device.
* The first Zune device will be launched this year, with more devices to come in 2007.
* The Zune brand encompasses not only the device, but the software that will drive it, as well as a music, movie, and media service the Zune device family will use for acquiring, sharing, and discovery of said media. Music will be the first angle of service that is launched, "connected entertainment" being the ultimate goal.
* The Zune media service will heavily leverage community aspects and recommendation; emphasis is being placed on using Zune to discover new artists, media, etc.
* The Zune media device will be drive-based, and have WiFi.
* The Zune brand is intended to be an entirely vertically integrated end-to-end solution, not unlike the iPod / iTunes / iTunes Music Store triumvirate.
* The service and device will not be PlaysForSure compliant, meaning you will not be able to use your Zune player with Napster or Vongo, for example. This will be an entirely new system. Microsoft will continue to support and develop for their PlaysForSure initiative, but all things PlaysForSure are handled by two entirely separate division that will not have any crossover.
* Zune is under Microsoft's new Entertainment & Devices Division, and is headed by, among others, Robbie Bach, J Allard (Corporate Vice President and Chief XNA Architect), and Bryan Lee (Corporate Vice President and CFO, Entertainment and Devices Division), which accounts for the division of this project from the rest of Microsoft, similar to how the Xbox project was also strictly separated.
* The logo we had is, of course, real.
* Microsoft's launched the Zune's viral marketing site. [Thanks, bv]
What we think we know (and are pretty sure of)
* They'll be showing off the device by the end of next month, and will aim for a November release.
* Microsoft will buy your way out of iTunes in order to convert you to a Zune user.
* The Zune will come in multiple colors.
* Pyxis is the codename for their nano competitor which would also include video capabilities; Alexandria is the codename for the software that powers the Zune experience.
* A Microsoft portable gaming system is in the works, and will be a part of the Zune family. This device should have Xbox Live Anywhere integration. This may or may not be an Xbox co-branded portable, but is probably going to be the portable gaming / media device we've been hearing about for years.
* Microsoft's ad campaign will include a Super Bowl commercial.
* The Zune will have a bevy of accessories at launch; it'll probably be cheaper for accessory makers to develop for the Zune port than pay the Made For iPod tax.
What we don't yet know
* Whether the Zune media service will offer the same kind of all-you-can-eat subscription media services as PlaysForSure media services like Napster and Vongo. Supposedly subscription will be offered, but downplayed in favor of song purchase (which is the opposite of most PlaysForSure services).
* Whether you'll actually only be limited to sharing with up to 10 people nearby, as rumored, and that they won't get the protected files, but will "bookmark" them for later purchase.
* Exact device specifications for the first Zune device, as well as its price (though we hear it could be as much as $399).
* Whether it'll include XM and/or Sirius service as rumored (we doubt it).
It's just like the story of the squirrel and the octopus. All summer long the squirrel gathered her nuts, saving them for winter, while the octpus sat around and watched tv and mooched off his girlfriend. But then the winter came and the squirrel froze and the octopus ate all her acorns. Plus, he got a race car. Is any of this getting to you? So go gather your nuts you nosy squirrel!
This will never be used in passenger aircraft as the g-forces caused by accelerating to mach 7 will be way too uncomfortable for 90% of passengers and just plain dangerous for some (elderly and children etc...)
On a flight from london to san francisco by the time you accelerate to mach 4 in a slow comfortable way you'll already be decelerating so its really pointless.
I got a free strategy Guide with Civ 2 by sid meir and it was brillian. Even included information on modding and customising the game.
Antone remember silent service 2 from waaaayyyy back (1990?) the manual was excellent. Had a huge historical section, a section on how to play the game and then a strategy section. Which was a bit like a seperate strategy guide except it came with the game.
The level of "journalism" being shown here is incredibly poor. I often wonder if there is a conspirac in place to demonise video games in print media. Since many print media outlets and tv stations lose income to online activities.
Hmmm... Core System or the full system? I have a core system. I know the full system has a silver front to the dvd drive tray and my core does not, perhaps the rest of the casing has a different tint. Or I may have some sort of rare model I can sell for Millions! Or not...
The 360 does look nice in photos but in real life it's that horrible beige pc colour from the nineties. Why did they not just make it white instead of beige?
What does most spyware do? Show advertisements and redirect browsers? Use your pc to generate spam? Track your surfing and purchases online?
Are not all of these things in the end for comercial gain?
What companies profit from this?
Are any legit? Or do they all offer you penis enlargement?
If so why not name and shame them?
Of the ones that are a scam, who buys penis enlargment pills for 1.99 or cheap viagra? Spam wouldnt be profitable if no one bought any products that it advertises?
Any idea what percentage of spam emails are responded to?
Maybe this specific product is overpriced?
Ok its definatly overpriced! Assume that in 5 years the technology becomes smaller and cheaper especially for a large company who is ordering them by the hundred. I think its not a fundamentally flawed idea in the long run but is a flawed product at the moment.

Is this not the reason why cpu's are also slow and expensive (compared to gpu's)
Don't they have to replicate "faults" and less efficient designs found in earlier x86 chips to retain compatibiity?
I read this somewhere, nay not be accurate.
Curing Aids would lose them money on Aids drugs but imagine the publicity!
"Do you have a headache? From the people who brought you the cure for Aids comes anti-ache!"

Eh... Suggestions. Maybe make it two short sentences instead.
I've underlined it in green too.

At least this comment page is easy to use and I dont have to remove the battery from my laptop to go to a different site.

We can't abandon atlantis while the wraith are still a threat!
PCI express 4000 mb/s
Also you would prob need an external power supply.
Even Sata would need to double its bandwitdh

This will only help bittorrent not hinder it. By removing anyone offering harmfull content it will protect users therefore encouraging BT's usage.
