being a humanitarian organisation doesn't exempt them from all wrongdoing, and to be quite honest i wouldn't give a dime to the red cross. they're incompetent and I don't trust them. The red cross as a symbol for health care has been in popular culture for a long long time and surfing the current "unrest" in the world of IP is a new low for the Red Cross
please don't pirate music! Johnny halliday wron't be able to pay for his annual face lift, anual album (full of the same shit hes been putting out since more than 20 years), annual 2 night stadium concert, trip to vietnam to adopt kids (whilst jumping the queue, thanks to Mrs. Chirac). I don't download music, but if it pisses johnny off, i'll download his whole discography (if anyone has actually gone to the trouble of compiling it)
...a producer said to the Beatles, "Guitar rock is so pasé!". and you bet he was pissed off after they got signed elsewhere. watching a robot play the guitar mut be boring as hell though, and you can make a robot take acid and come up with the craziest music ever.
it'll print off a 'late' note for your supervisor and a drop you a tic tac to soothe your throat after screeming "let me in!" for half an hour. sorted.
if Apple moves to Intel chips, lets OS X run on machines built by other vendors, if longhorn proves itself more/as stable, then what advantage will Apple have over Microsoft? the iPod? great...
ok, I don't live in the US and don't know what speeds you get, but I can say that I would still pay a monthly fee (which would probably go down) for a fatter cable going to my house with wires and all instead of using municipal wifi. you may say that not everyone uses internet, but maybe more people will if all it costs is a wifi adapter, and thats a good thing i think.
maybe such incidents will make software publishers (Microsoft in particular) sell more and more anti-spyware tools instead of fixing the root of the problem. why would microsoft spend more money fixing a problem when people will pay them to patch it up a bit? arguably, difirenciating spyware from legit software isn't easy. but MS programs 'interoperability' alone causes lots of trouble.
...a man was arrested for buying a belt. Police specialists say it was possible he could have strangled a theoretic 3rd party.
if this guy's being tried for having kiddie porn then they must have something better than "he had a encryption program" to prove it? if they don't, then American justice scares me (more)
France's official Journal (the parlimentary newspaper if you prefer) has just decided that, to save the French language from being crushed by english words, that wifi(whihc doesn't mean much in english either) will now be AISF(Access Internet Sans Fils) and "Spammers" will now be called "Arroseur" (literal translation is a "Sprayer"). In the best of worlds, people who only use the internet for porn and blackmailing other politicians wron't be the ones deciding which way internet culture goes.
could someone explain whats so magic about forking out 10$ to go see a film to my wallet? if cinemas didn't insist on raising prices for cinema tickets (not to mention popcorn and drinks) every year then i might go more often. i don't even download films because my computer is to old and crappy but i still don't go to the cinema. Everytime i see a film that might look good, that it gets good "reviews" by the press and such, I always end up with a sinking feeling in my stomache and the thought: "10$ for pretty pictures is alot". I like the cinema experience of big screens suround sound and big comfortable chairs, and i bet alot of film downloaders too, unfortunatly for the MPAA they don't like getting ripped off
blaming bittorrent just ruined the magic you heartless monkeys!
lucky you. i'n my school, you get the 3 course meal, but you can only eat 2 max without facing CERTAIN death which leaves you hungry which brings me to my next point: we have well filled vending machines and as of late advertising boards (ok, its not nutrition but it still shows companies can buy their ways into schools). i think if the school "cooks" (most of the time they are caretakers) learned how to make basic meals well, instead of screwing those up AND inventing the most aweful concotions for god knows what reason, then people wouldn't leave hungry and buy a chocolate bar or something. vive le lycee balzac:(
if you're downloading music/films/games/software you bloody well know it's illegal and the risks of what you're doing. whatever your views may be on the subject, the bottom line is it's illegal and the state has given the RIAA the right to sue your ass. yes it's ugly, i don't like the RIAA either, but making the distribution of child porn easier just so some already well off people can listen to more music with peace of mind is just immoral.
apart from the masses and masses of outdated computers in my school, what to do about the mediocre networking? if our school wants to use this system, they're going to have to buy at least 3 diffnern't servers, and get a proper admin to keep this all tied together (probably with a piece of string judgung by my school's financial state). not to mention the fact it'll have to run side by side with a winXP computer room payed for by companies for a special accountant/economics course. what a mess:(
i hate a CD or DVD skipping when i BUY them. Lend them to a friend who takes little care of your DVDs and your screwed. I'd gladly pay more for the time I'd save placing discs back into their box without acting like it's brain surgery. they'd have to make them shiny boxes though, the only mini-discs that never get bought at the matte ones:D
they must be REALLY pissed we don't want their textile industry to kill all competition. will this be the birth of "The Peoples Linux" or maybe "Red Star Linux"?
I don't push Firefox because i give a damn about peoples browsing pleasure, i push Firefox because coding webpages in IE can be excruciating. security, tabs, RSS and all the cool features of Firefox put together don't give me as much satisfaction as seeing my CSS displayed properly. To be Honest, Firefox is getting on my nerves as of late: extensions that corrupt profiles, themes that break half of the browsers functionality, longer and longer start ups.
the formula i use is simple: if the quality of the product is superior to the competition and i find the price reasonable and worthwhile, I buy.

Queenie adopts bittorrent? i'd love to see Bram Cohen being knigted (or whatever its called) :D

A head Honchos private office complete with giant laser and shark pool. google sharks, now that would be fun.
that there must be a lot of kids (like me right now) surfing the net instead of doing their homework. I tip my hat to you for legitimising my lazyness
