As a rabbid FPS fan,all I can say is WHO HOOOOO!This game sounds orgasmic!I mean...being able to take down an entire building with 3 or 4 RPG's!? Not to mention this oughta give other game developers ideas on how a game SHOULD be made!Though I am still suprised at how few developers took the hint from Red Faction,and used the idea.I'm still jonzing for the driving game that lets you fly through buildings or cut through an alley to take the lead!What about an RPG game where you can make a trap for some huge monster so when he trips it a couple of trees (supposing there big enough) take him down a peg or two?Meh,these are just ideas I'm just throwing out for the game developers/slashdot readers out there.GET THE HINT!-ahem...ok,I'm done.
No one wants to see this happen,but as far as I can tell,thats only one of two things keeping them alive,that and handhelds.The modern "thing" these days seems to be "retro love". Everyone keeps obsesing over the past,but as soon as this fad wares out,so will nintendo.Now as far as there handhelds... It's qiute obvious that the only thing that really pulled them through this last year was the handheld market.Now the PSP has pretty much eliminated that market as well.Considering they actually have to start outsourcing to meet the demand over there new handheld,I think it's fair to say sony just nabbed that market. Nintendo is starting to turn into a cute,but annoying company to me,they don't seem to care about bringing anything new,only repackaging the same things in pointless ways (gameboy DS for instance). As such,unless nintendo finally steps up to the plate,it unfortunatly looks like they're going to be knocked out of the ballgame. If they don't sell systems,they can't make ANY money,and there done for.
As far as I can tell.In the gamer world,if they "patent" an idea,all someone has to do is come along and make something similar to that idea,and presto the're out of the woods.It just seems too easy to get around a patent that anyone who would want to do it could without a problem.There was a post yesterday I believe, about EA getting all the rights for the "NFL".But what is going to stop someone from making a football game with berry saunders instead of barry sanders (the only example I can come up with,and I appologise if the names wrong)? So until they come up with an answer to that problem,I doubt this will really effect the future of games as we know it.

I have read pretty much everyones response and no one seems to like this.As far as I can tell,everyone either thinks this will be too much like "CEC" (witch I thought was fun as #@$% as a kid!),that it'll be inferior,or that it wont bring people together the way he plans. But I wonder how many actually read what he plans? From everything I heard in the article,he seems to want this to be for an older crowd (so dont worry about it being to much like "CEC"),he seems to be focusing on bringing people together (so no isolationism,and might i add...he did a good job bringing people [at least kids] together with "CEC" ),and I cant imagine it's going to be like bars around the world with JUST those boring touch screen game systems (so maybe...just MAYBEEE he'll actually have some modern systems!). As for the sanitary issue,THAT one I can understand,and can only hope he has either thought about that allready,or will before he opens this new restaurant. I would allso like to point out the fact that "CEC",the place most of you seem so ^#$%bent on hating,is a: still up and running,and B:has spawned other companies to creat there own "CEC"-like business'. So I for one,can not WAIT to see what happens,and I will be hoping and praying that this idea EXPLODES into the mainstream!

I remember turning this story in (before i got this nick). According to what it said,they require liquid wast,think of waterworld,when he pee'd into his contraption,now say that contraption turned it into energy,instead of water,and thats what there suggesting.So unfortunatly,all that mold,and god knows what thats crawling around on your floors wont work.Try saving all your urin!

I cant help but wonder,is it just me? How many/.ers actually use windows? Considering we all seem to know that there's plenty of other software out there that gives us this,why does anyone care? Anyone that needs it could simply get what they need from the other companies,badda bing (insert mob joke here). Dont get me wrong,i realize this is/. worthy news,but by god!Lets all just shake our head at Mr. gates in shame,and walk away.Thank you.
How many porn fans do we have here on slashdot,and not a single one of you want to see a lexx movie?! I for one feel it is my civil duty to formally put this idea into the minds of the movie corps. for all slashdoters!(insert national anthem here) God bless lexx appeal.
I hate to be the bearer of bad,yet logical news,but I doubt this is going to become completly free of censorship. Theres no way to avoid the stupidity of the masses.SOMEONE will inevitably complain,for some inane reason, then someone else will use that as a reason to censor it. And im sure PLEANTY of people are going to say that im wrong,that it cant happen, or that it just wont,but ya'll (insert redneck joke here) watch,it'll happen.
