    Speculation has also arisen that such a deal may lead to Steve Jobs earning a position on Disney's board of directors. He would likely become Disney's largest individual share holder.

    It was also rumoured that Steve Jobs' first move as Disney boardmember is convincing the rest of the board to re-edit 'Snow White' so that the Queen feeds Snow White a poison banana.

    It would be ironic therefore if his essay on minds and machines were one day used to justify the slavery of (non-human) machines.

    A machine will work diligently until it physically breaks or encounters an error.

    A man will figure out a way to avoid the work by creating a machine to do it for him, and then quickly move on to more pleasurable activities.

    I don't understand why Jobs would say something false that we know will be quickly tested and analyzed in order to verify that claim?

    Wouldn't it have been better for Apple's credibility to just say it is a significant improvement and will be faster than its predecessor?

    Public Enemy was right - Don't believe the hype.

    First of all, that was extremely wordy article to explain the WMF vulnerability, IMHO. But some important points were made:

    if an attacker can get your computer to execute their WMF file through Internet Explorer or Outlook, for example, they can make your system execute arbitrary Windows commands, including downloading malicious applications and launching them.

    My belief is that Microsoft developers decided to implement as much as the GDI function-set as possible.

    In any case, its not clear that the developers envisioned applications creating on-disk metafiles with abort procedures.

    ...given a choice of believing there was malicious intent or poor design behind this implementation, I'll pick poor design.


    Either way, it is still hard to tell why it was designed that way in the first place, maybe one of these links can tell us?

    If you are given something for free, then you own it - do you not? The solution is to have anyone using it say that they are the 'owners,' being respectful to the creators of the software, of course.
    Either that or they need to change the regulations to allow the lawful use of free software.

    On a side note, Sarbanes-Oxley is a huge headache....THANKS ENRON!

    2 Days later the line was ripped in half by a backhoe from the company they contracted to do the plumbing.
    Rumors said the guy was fired due to failing a drug test.
