  1. Nothing and Everything is legitimate on EMI Using Rapidshare To Market Music · · Score: 1

With EMI spreading files far and wide, their experts grudgingly admit that it’s impossible to tell which links are authorized and which are not.

Looks like EMI ruined their own business model.

  5. Secrecy, Legality and Government Censorship on WikiLeaks Moves To Swiss Domain After DNS Takedown · · Score: 5, Insightful

So at what line do we consider something as 'free speech' no matter if it is in print, or on the internet?

If a newspaper gets classified information through regular investigative journalism, they are now NOT allowed to print that information? (see: Pentagon Papers)

If Joe Lieberman was in power in 1971, would we even know the extent of the corruption of the Johnson and Nixon administrations? Or would all their lies and wrongdoing just be 'swept under the rug' and out of sight, out of mind? Would the New York Times and the Washington Post be threatened and censored from publishing their information?

    Some quotes to contemplate:
Censorship reflects a society's lack of confidence in itself. - Potter Stewart
The first condition of progress is the removal of censorship. - George Bernard Shaw
The internet interprets censorship as damage and routes around it. - John Gilmour
As to the evil which results from a censorship, it is impossible to measure it, for it is impossible to tell where it ends. - Jeremy Bentham

The discovery of this microorganism that can use arsenic to build its cellular components may indicate that life can form in the absence of large amounts of available phosphorus, thus increasing the probability of finding life elsewhere in the universe. The find gives weight to the long-standing idea that life on other planets may have a radically different chemical makeup and may help in hunt for alien life.

  22. Mission to Titan on NASA Finds New Life (This Afternoon) · · Score: 1

Now, we need to send a robot to Saturn's moon Titan and see if life exists there.
Titan's surface temperature appears to be about -178C (-289F). Methane appears to be below its saturation pressure near Titan's surface; rivers and lakes of methane probably don't exist, in spite of the tantalizing analogy to water on Earth. On the other hand, scientists believe lakes of ethane exist that contain dissolved methane. Titan's methane, through continuing photochemistry, is converted to ethane, acetylene, ethylene, and (when combined with nitrogen) hydrogen cyanide. The last is an especially important molecule; it is a building block of amino acids.
