    i remember at a PC shop i worked at we had legit copies of 98se come in with a virus infecting one of the files already on the disk.

    while our MS Sales rep was very quick to replace them we kept one and taped it above the time clock.. just as a reminder that no mater what we do we are all doomed

    having fun with unsecured wifi.. a good freind of mine lived in college appartments. noticing plenty of unsecured networks in the appartment building he took a small linux box stuck 3 or 4 can't remember exactly wifi cards in it and set it up for his lan in a bridged mode to round robin route his local nat'ed lan.. for any single download it was normal cable modem speeds .. for bit torrent wow was that fast..

    he did that for 3 years.. kinda sad when you think about it

    Wireless while nice isn't the end all be all UNLESS you licence the spectrum from the FCC and have the right to shut down any interferance.

    I recently had problems where i live.. in my house i can pick up 11 OTHER wifi networks.. several neighbors just switched over to N routers with that lovely mimo (yaeee lets eat channels because we can)

    anyways.. running my normall wrt45g at 5ft channels 4-10 are completely useless due to the amount of interferance from the neighboring networks.

    i ended up butting dd-wrt on it switching to chan 2 right next to the control chan for the n's and bosting the tx power from 70mw to 220mw

    now at 5ft works fine at 50ft it is useable - oustide the house i can't even see the network.

    oh and the wifi bridge to my garage with a cisco 800 wifi AP.. yea.. you should see the crap it is spewing out..

    any company that things relying on the 2.4ghz spectrum for actual reliable work.. i want their names.. in 6 months i will drop by and drop off a qoute to run hardwires

    true but it's allot easier for me to prevent/notice/stop the guy in the wiring closet than the guy with a pringels can in his car in another parking lot.

    yea but borders are annoying

    also anyone that buys the apple for 1800 instead of the dell fro 1000 is crazy - its the same monitor made by the same people just a diffrent frame.

    they are talking about using the apple 30in display which requires dual link just to start talking to the graphics card - no matter what you send down the lines to it.

    we use it for live pause/pay multi tuner/chan recording of single shows or movies or complete series.

    one thing that is very nice about MCE is it comes with a lifetime subscription for Guide programing that is completely built in and works very very well. put in zip code - then provider (if you have an option) and then pick plan - and 99% of what you need is done. including full support for HD chans and SD chans and again multi tunner.

    and honestly if i did or when i will have a small child they woln't be using the PVR, but rather a book shelf

    it has nothing to do with the hdd as everything it needs is cached in memory.

    it has everything to do with the shiny interface being poorly written.

    the only computer i have that is running vista - is my media center PC running ultimate because i really like the Windows Media Center - my wife can figure it out without ever having to ask me a questions - and while XP MCE was nice the vista version has alot of useful updates.

    as for the actual vista OS/interface - it is truly annoying and exceptionaly frustrating the hardware requirements for it to run smooth.

    i understand that new hardware is faster than older stuff but really

    P4 2.8 with HT
    2gb ddr 400
    ATI 9600 pro
    sata cd and hdd

    why the hell is the start menu lagging? really it's pathetic.

    When i say new generation i'm talking about the kids in school right now.

    my wife is a teacher - it is not uncommon for her to overhear racist remarks coming from her kids - remarks which would make my hair currle.. but to them they have zero clue what they are saying.

    and when you try to explain it to them - all you get is blank stares.. it's really creepy how far gone this world is getting.

    you are correct i'm from the US - and here sadly the new generation is only taught bad things happened IF there is time in class to do it.

    While we do have the programs your talking about on TV on the discovery and History channel's other than a very select few of the people i know no one i know really watchs them.

    we are doomed to repeat history - i just hope it is never in my families time.

    what it should be is "parents take the time to teach their child about the world and what is appropriate when and where"

    i'm just getting sick and fucking tired of parents that want to shove all the problems onto someone else and when that someone else doesn't get it right they sue them.. i'm sorry but that someone else never agreed to raising your child..

    personaly .. i feel if a child fucks up the parents should be punished along with the child. lets get some accountability in parenting for a fucking change

    We set our site as the home page for users - but we also filter out our subnet ranges for stats.

    inflated numbers are useless numbers

    the reason we set it as the home page is so everyone knows the site so they can help anyone who calls in

    since exchange 2000 - it has replaced part of the file system i/o handeling in windows (for preformance reasons) i can only assume it is getting worse.

    well too late i bought it - and i'm impresed with it..

    yes it is a rip off of so many older games - the music to game interaction is just wonderful - along with some of the puzzles are quite fun and and when you get them almost face palm moments.

    and i really love the start of the game.. you run it.. and your there.. you think your at a loading screen but no.. your ready to play.

    funny you should say that.. i've never heard of it till today.. i was listening to some collections on magnatunes today and heard the songs from the game.. it caught my ear and when i went to find more by the artist i found it was a game sound track.

    i acutly have the Steam page for it open in another tab and was debating if i should buy it and try it out.. I think i will now - the sound track is exceptionaly well made - if it does flow well into the game then the it should be quite enjoyable

    I work for a small company that has been around for over 35 years.. we are small because we want to be small - we constantly go head to head bidding for jobs with competitors that are more than 10x our size. they could afford something like this - we couldn't.

    This is nothing more than a smash and grab for cash.

    and if you don't think there will be squatting - just wait.. while i'm sure it will be no where as bad as it is now.. there are going to be a few and they are going to make money from it.
