    No. The sun has shown a slight cooling trend over the last 3 decades. Not only is the sun not contributing to global warming, it has had a slight, long term cooling effect.

    Determining the long term solar trend
    (There are numerous peer reviewed science journal papers referenced in that link.)

    Can you reference any "evidence that Global Warming does not exist and it is being pushed by Liberals with an agenda"? Your belief is not sufficient.

    The horizontal resolution. The vertical resolution is a given since there is a fixed aspect ratio of 1.34:1.

    18K means a 18000 x 13433 frame.
    8K means a 8000 x 5970 frame.

    The 'k' refers to the horizontal resolution. The vertical resolution is a given since the aspect ratio is a fixed 1.34:1.

    Reread the article and finish your own incomplete thinking. It's talking about doing this in a section of Australia where ocean access, limestone & "stranded energy" are all simultaneously available.

    This comes across strongly as a short-term "patch" with a bevy of unintended consequences though.

    Water vapor seldom enters into the discussion because water vapor has a very short atmospheric lifespan, on the order of days, whereas CO2 has an atmospheric lifespan on the order of a century.

    Water vapor's long-term atmospheric concentration is determined solely by temperature, and any variations are quickly resolved through evaporation or precipitation, e.g. rain. There is no such "quick fix" process for CO2.

    Any water vapor that is added to the atmosphere precipitates out within days. Any CO2 added to the atmosphere remains there for years.

    CO2's spectral absorption also covers IR bands that water vapor does not. When the temperature rises because of the increased CO2, the air can hold more water vapor leading to a positive feedback cycle.

    I agree with your closing statement though. This is a short-sighted "patch" with a bevy of unintended consequences.

This flaw affected temperatures in 2000 and later years by ~0.15C averaged over the United States and ~0.003C on global average. Contrary to reports in the media, this minor flaw did not alter the years of record temperature, as shown by comparison here of results with the data flaw ('old analysis') and with the correction ('new analysis').

    Photovoltaics are not the only solar power solution. Concentrating solar power plants work by heating up a transfer substance, e.g. molten salt, and then converting that heat to electricity. That method provides continuous electricity by averaging out the cloudy days & nighttimes.

    There are more Certificate Authorities than just Verisign; e.g. Thawte, GeoTrust & GoDaddy.

    GoDaddy charges $15/year for a single-domain SSL cert.

    A "Web 2.0" application being based on a strongly centralized server is a problem of defective implementation, rather than defective concept.

    Google is an example of good implementation, i.e. distributed server with no central chokepoint.

    There are 4 terms that need to be understood in the realm of science - hypothesis, theory, law & fact. They are all separate & distinct, except for the only progression that occurs - hypothesis => theory.

    A fact is what has been carefully observed.
    A law describes that observation.
    A hypothesis is a proposal intended to explain that observation.
    A theory seeks to explain that observation & has been confirmed by considerable evidence and has endured all attempts to disprove it.

    Fact
    Objects fall at the same rate regardless of mass.

    Yep, you are smarter that all those stupid scientists. They didn't realize that 10.5 is bigger than 7.5. You sure showed them!

    It couldn't have anything to do with that larger figure being primarily thin one-year ice that melts quicker than normally thick ice formed over many years like the article said, now could it?

    That is only correct for fresh water bodies, such as the oft-mentioned glass of water. The oceans are salt water. The sea level increase isn't substantial, but it is greater than zero.

    The common misconception that floating ice won't increase sea level when it melts occurs because the difference in density between fresh water and salt water is not taken into consideration.

    If all the extant sea ice and floating shelf ice melted, the global sea level would rise about 4 cm.
