  6. Re:I foresee a crisis at Disney on Lessig - Public Domain Dead in 35 Years · · Score: 1

I read somewhere, about two years ago, that Mexico planned to tax performances of public domain music.

I don't like the idea, but taxing Beethoven would level the playing field for young/contemporary "classical" composers who have to compete with the huge body of royalty-free music.

  10. ASP ( or what ? ) on Which CGI Language For Which Purpose? · · Score: 1

I am busily learning ASP at the moment, may delve into "Web Classes" later. I cannot reply to other environments, but using ASP is somewhat like juggling plates. It is not difficult switching between several languages, but I try to re-use everything I write ( within reason), and the little confetti-sized VB include files are not satisfying to work with. We are currently "getting religion" about source safe, but it is hard to save all of the bits and pieces of HTML, VB, JScript --- not to mention trying not to lose stored procedures. My impression is that this would be a problem with any CGI-type application. I guess I have just made the question more nebulous.

  11. Re:How do they choose the composers? on Movie Reviews: Fantasia 2000 · · Score: 1

Excelent insight ! A whole milennium of music tends to be lumped together as "classical", so that the word has beccome meaningless.
