Maybe some of the motherboards are expensive for a reason -- they're good. I own a 5 year old Tyan dual AMD motherboard and my system kicks the shit out of half the stuff on the shelves today. But I guess you get what you pay for...
There you have it: most ignorant quote of the day.
First of all, Intel is basically forcing big companies into using only their products. Fair competition in consumer products can get ugly sometimes, but once one side starts going things the way Intel is, it's no longer fair, nor competition. Intel is trying to strong-arm their competition out. They realize they have something to fear from AMD. Underhanded business practices to drive them out is utter crap.
If AMD has no proof, why would they be suing in the first place? How could they? AMD is a big name, and doubt they are just crying wolf. If they are struggling, I doubt they would falsly make the claims they have and create a PR nightmare for themselves and only make things worse.
How do you think this country is founded? Peace talks? No. This country gained its independence with guns and blood. Tons of it. If you don't like it, leave. I can't stand you pussies who aren't willing to stand up for anything in the same way that the founders of this country did.
Al Queda is no comparison to fighting for your own property. They became different the second they took their fight (for their "rights" as you so put it) off of their own soil and brought it here, much the same way as England did. We reacted then, and we reacted now.
Someone shows up to take my land, there's going to be a fight. I don't care how I get labeled. If I die, I die knowing I stood up for myself and with a smile on my face so fucking big it will disturb my killers for the rest of their lives. Nobody will take my land. I don't care if I have to dump radioactive waste on it. The saying "you can have it when you pry it from my cold dead hands" doesn't apply here. You can't have it at all. I can only hope that if corporations and cities succeed in taking land, that the people making those decidisons get theirs taken from them.
The most potent weapon of the free man is not your firearm, gun nut, its what's between your ears
You can talk until you're blue in the face. Actions speak louder than words, and aren't as easy to ignore. Shame upon those who just give away their rights and won't fight for them.
Too small view?! "Losing my house can't be THAT bad." is a broad one?
Eventually, someone is bound to try and protect their propterty via firearm. If they're smart, they will have a news crew on location, so that when they're killed for trying to protect what is theirs, and everyone else sees it, all hell can break loose.
companies used to dismiss vocal complaints from one or two consumers as an aberration. But now, they have to pay attention because now those complainers may have blogs
I'll never buy from a company that outsources anything to India!
4ppl3 needs to let 05X run on any x86!!!!
Doubleclick and Benny are teh Suxx0rz!! Block 4LL of their ads!!!!
etc. etc. Are companies really listening to teen rants like this?
You can buy two perfectly good PCs for the price of this one card. It truly has become all about 'having the latest and greatest'. The evolvement of hardware power has finally gone that last step -- from ludicrous to stupid.
Oh, and just for kicks "yeah, but can it run under Linux?"
I had read about the possible lawsuit against Yahoo weeks ago. Why wait until now to do something about it? Anyone notice how this happened right after they found that guy in California with names of 36,000 (not a typo) boys in notebooks?
Gili?
If you can even rent it and start watching it, then you got some serious balls, or none at all. But if you can get laid after?!?! You are a GOD!!
The only exception I've made is to go see Star Wars. I never want to pay $30 for food and drinks for the family ever again. Plus I can pause the movie and deal with my children as needed, and not have to bite my lip because of someone else's kids.
The two Microcenter stores here in Atlanta have always been the best place to shop at. They beat CompUSeless hands down. They carry a better variety of products, even with some specialty hardware, such as a fair amount of scsi products. They also carried a bunch of software that could not be found anywhere else, even online. For them to do something like this is not all that shocking to see. Who cares if it's Linspire? At least people will get a taste of Linux.
While this is a noble jesture, I don't see it happening. I'm fairly sure Apple wants their OS on their hardware. Not because they have some sort of ego, but because of the already existent perception of Apple's quality. Can you imagine the iPod software running on Creative's mp3 player? If OSX were to be able to run on x86s other than Apple's, I can only see Microsoft pulling all of its software from Apple in fear of some excellent competition. What boggles my mind is that Dell is not open to the idea of using AMD, but does want to use OSX. I think it's odd, but then again Dell may just be being picky.
We have a few 2k3 servers in place, but can't find any compelling reason to make a full switch. We could, but we have older hardware that couldn't handle XP very well, although we could nLite those workstations. I also use 2k at home. I do like the way Exchange 2k3's web mail looks, but that certainly isn't going to make me switch.
...out on my own machine at home. I have been looking into other operating systems lately, just from an experimental standpoint. Knoppix 3.7 is the only distro that I've tried that currently runs on my scsi only system. If OS-X could see both my processors and run from a scsi only system, I'd be happy. I know in the old days Mac hardware was scsi. Has this changed in the recent years?
Yoda. Light saber. Nuff said.

AMD is simply using this as a business tactic

Gawd, you gun nuts are delusional.

Yeah, but not in your own home.
If my home belongs to the city, then so do my bullets -- fired from my gun in your direction.

outsourcing to the ghetto = higher crime
they cut out Unix, but continue to support Lotus?!?! They really are afraid of competition.
About how their browser identifies itself as IE? A-HAHAHAHA!!!
it isn't that crappy Real media.
wow. you people with mod points have no sense of humor or a pole up your ass.
a cloudy day or something?

Wasteful government spending can apply anywhere.
My girlfriend just picked up a decent computer for $300, monitor and all. For $70, that mouse had better predict where I want to go.
