There are a LOT of people that don't drive more that 25 miles 95% of the time. These people tend to live in areas where pollution from cars is a very big problem, so uptake of this kind of vehicle is supportable.
Don't let seeking a perfect solution get in the way of doing something better than what we have now.
What about India or China? India in particular, where they have unreliable power grids, I can't imagine the internet connection is somehow more reliable than the power grid.
Ya, seriously, I don't know why some people put so much faith in the "private industry" as if it isn't full of the same bastard coated bastards with bastard filling as the gov't. At least I get to vote every few years to try to affect the gov't.
Just a note: Nobody knows which of these approaches was more effective, since neither of the two countries have ever launched any of the described weapons.
Why not just change the asteroid's trajectory and send it straight down to Earth? It'd be easier to get the materials on Earth and the impact would likely spread it out and make it easier to gather. What could go wrong?
Did they actually do what they claim? Wouldn't our military have detected the launch? Where would the capsule have landed -- or did they use something they could actually get back to a landing strip?
MS Flight Simulator. They've released new versions but everything prior to MS Flight was a wild hit with flight enthusiasts to the point where FSX is still sold now, several years after they stopped working on it.
I've had a similar experience. Like you said, if you buy from the top of the mid tier when you build, you'll get a solid machine that will last you several years. It's not like a decade ago when you had to upgrade at least every other year to keep up with the games.
My gaming PC (including its video card) is more than five years old and I have very little trouble running modern games. Seems pretty obvious that upgrading the GPU would only help, but "rejuvenate" implies the thing should be near dead and it's not -- my 5 year old PC does just fine. And, by the way, I didn't go nuts building it. It was not the #1 top of the line system when I built it, it was just solid.
Face it, the hardware lifespan is longer now than it was a decade ago. You don't have to buy a new system every year or two to keep up anymore.
Agreed, I was wondering why the game would even be distributed in Pakistan if Pakistan is the aggressor in the game. The distributor has to be out of their mind!
The fine for sharing a movie on peer-to-peer in the US is up to $250,000 according to the legal warning on every DVD I've bought recently, and yet the fine for KILLING a highway worker is $7,000 in my state. I'd say we definitely don't have our priorities straight.
Someone give the parent +1 Informative, please. Relevant XKCD: http://xkcd.com/1013/
*Whoosh*
So the question should be: Is Fox News a cause, or just a symptom of something bigger?
Bravo, you win 10 internets.

Wait, so Mr. Mac was Mr. PC in disguise all along?

Does it? What if I come from a family who has money? What if I have a second job which isn't reported in this database?

Either you meant to say "I cannot overstate" or you don't think this skill is very important.
Arguably they both wasted the money. Also arguably, the jury is still out.
I'd rather pay my $60/mo to the gov't than to Comcast, assuming I get a similar service in return.

I guess those guns were sure useful in her personal defense.

Very eloquently put.
Don't forget the BP spill!

God holds them together (or pushes them apart, appropriately). Duh. ;-)
So it's like a gaming version of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell"
