Correct! One scientist, Hugo Drax, has already begun work on a secret space station that is invisible to our satelite system. He will take only the best and brightest with him (as well as Jaws to keep everyone in line) and then wipe out everyone on earth in order to put them out of their misery. Mr. Bond and Dr. Goodhead are looking into the matter.

I suspect that a lot of the people who are buying PDAs are still techie enough to hate MS. How can Palm compete with the cooler features (MP3 player, voice recorder, first to color, more RAM, etc.) offered by the Win CE devices.

Palm competes because cool features mean nothing when it's not usable. I had a Palm III first and a Visor Deluxe now, and every time I have played with a WinCE device the UI just wasn't there. If I want to pull up someone's name, I want to do it in as few taps as possible. God help us when we have to start double-tapping.

As for RAM, WinCE devices need more RAM because the apps are bigger. I can still download PalmOS apps that are 50Kb (that's kilobytes) in size. Most PalmOS users (by reading this you don't count) don't even come close to filling up the 8MB in a VDX.

The Visor is a great value for those that want to have 2MB of memory in their Palm-compatible for a low cost. Looking at the m100 vs. the Visor, it's close because the m100 is slightly cheaper. On the other hand, if you like the idea of the Springboard module, the Visor may be better for you.

The Visor Deluxe (which I have) is an even better value, as for only $60 more you quadruple your RAM usage. By the fact that you are reading this on Slashdot you should get the VDX for the extra memory, as you're sure to load it with AvantGo channels and the like.

Call it a shameless plug, but if you want to read more on the Visor and the Springboard modules/accessories available for it, check out www.visorcentral.com.

And although it's not due until later this month, the Glenayre @ctiveLink will be the first 2-way Springboard module (and also the first to be usable outside the Visor).

Even though it was a completely different topic, and we wouldn't lose any of our visitors over it, it still felt like someone came and stole from us the work that we had put into our site.
