  1. Re:Why all the bad press? on 360 Disc Scratching Serious Problem · · Score: 1

I happen to have a 360 myself. I have also had 0 problems since launch day. I have actually accidentally knocked the console over from vertical to horizontal WHILE PLAYING Madden 2006. I was like "Oh Shit!" because I had heard of the scratching issue. I thought to myself, "That game is fucked, I'll have to return it to those gamestop bastards". I looked at the disc when I removed it, and viola! No scratches! I don't know if I got lucky, but the 360 has performed exactly to my liking. Or maybe I am just one of the few non-retarded people who bought this console, so I have no problem using it. Hmmmm...

thanks, even though it's a little disappointing, i'm glad I know. Now I can't wait to get my replacement mobo for my P4 system! Oh, also, would this run inside a virtual PC on my mac running os x? I think that would just be really cool. Or is there no SSE 3 for a virtual machine either?

I have a spare system with an Athlon XP 2400+, and I was wondering if it would be possible to install this on that system. Has anyone tried it? Is there any technical reason why it couldn't be done? If anyone has actually tried it please respond.

wow thanks, I was reading the FAQ and looking at the "Are there DVD Images for Download" section, and it said that the dvd images were only available through jigdo. So much for that, I only bothered to look at the jigdo section after that...

Why does their distribution system suck so much ass! I hate jigdo! (note I am running windows because i can't give up the games). Jigdo lite for windows is so unbelievably annoying to use! I don't mind the fact that it's on the command line, but damn can't they add support for cutting/pasting? God! I wanted to get the DVD isos but i typed like 3 pages of text and ended with errors, with no ability to copy and paste in order to fix a mistake. I like the idea, but it is better implemented in bittorrent, which for some reason they don't have the dvd images available for.I really do love Debian though, you just can't beat apt-get. It is definitely my favorite distro

exactly. you can play every game ever made by nintendo (minus game cube for the moment) on your pc. I stil think this is a good idea, but only if it is all free. Otherwise, I will never buy this system, as I was planning on doing anway. Whenever i hear the name "revolution" I just can't help but think, "the main feature they're talking about now is something I can do using my softmodded xbox and the BIG ASS EMULATOR DISC." Wow. Really enticing. Oh, and if I want to play 'cube games, I'll just buy one for $99 anyway. Obviously i have no respect for this next nintendo console, so my humble opinions *may* be a little (cough cough) biased

Well then... First of all, the os on the 360 is supposedly a heavily modified Windows 2000. So it is microsoft code they are running. The reason they MUST use a mac, is because the 360 uses a power pc processor. they needed to use a mac with a power pc processor to run the code without recompiling it or some kind of emulation (laugh laugh)

Uhhh...? WTF are you talking about? The Revolution won't be out until next year. Not to mention, why would they feel pressure to get more powerful hardware by Nintendo? If I remeber correctly, Gamecube was the last of the current-gen consoles to be released (maby xbox, they were pretty close), and it had the weakest hardware of all 3. So, no, MS is not feeling any heat from nintendo, nor have they in the hardware department, although they may be shaking in their M$ boots waiting for the PS3 specs to come out.

Wow. I don't even know what CMYK is. so support for it doesn't matter to me. I find the GIMP a little more confusing, but i am simply not an expert in photoshop or GIMP. What i do know is that the GIMP does have an unbelievable amount of power. My friends, who are programmers/web designers love the GIMP, but hey maby that's just cuz it's free. But i don't think so since they could steal photoshop, even write their own cracks for it...
