My laptop bag is the standard black fare-
If I want something cooler I will make it myself (90% because I am cheap, 10% because I enjoy making stuff)
The coolest "bag" on there in my opinion is the halliburton, but for almost $400, I would just buy a small stainless briefcase or suitcase (maybe even used) (thanks to the internet, finding a funny size suitcase/briefcase is fairly easy) and then hit up the craft/hobby store and get foam padding. Heck, I might even buy a cheap laptop bag from walmart, and cut out the pen holders and all and affix them to the inside of my homemade "bag."
The wood case is cool though- but A: My laptop is a tool, and as such "fine wood" really isn't an option and
B: I can't see spending thousands for a nice wooden custom case for a tool I replace every couple years....
For a lot of companies, 80% is way low. How many boxes does, say, Dell ship without windows? The mass market PC makers need something to sell that can be plugged in, turned on and running, which for most consumers means windows. For example, my parents buying a naked box would be like them buying a car without an engine, and then having to put the engine in....
There are "Non profits" and "Not For Profits." I know these terms are used interchangeably, but I believe there is a difference.
I don't know enough about the difference between them to deliniate, but my understanding is that to be a "non profit", you have to register with the IRS and meet a bunch of standards.

Hacker Boot Camp

or were subject to violent hazing There is almost none of that, if any, in the military- I never saw any. All you are showing with that statement is that your knowledge of the military comes entirely from Full Metal Jacket...
That being said,
Marines go to boot camp, everyone else goes to Basic. Reminds me of a girl at work who always talks about her "cardio bootcamp" and how hardcore she is. I explained to her that when I went through Basic, it was a bit more than putting on spandex for two hours three days a week and doing the stair climber.
Anyhow, bootcamp is a marketing term used by some organizations/programs to imply toughness, militaryness (yes I know that isn't a word, I am using it for sarcastic value) and coolness, nothing more.
What sounds cooler to the average 18 year old wanna be hacker- "Computer Camp" or "Hacker Bootcamp"
And by the way, if you want to make something like Basic or Bootcamp, make sure that the theme is hurry up and wait. Like on fire qualifying days, when you want 4 hrs to shoot for 5 minutes....
Speaking of ignorant- don't put words in people's mouths.
The GP was saying that the money being used for the Iraq war should be used for developing green tech.
It did not speak about the relationship between the middle east and oil prices or availability. So blow it out your ASS
You had me nodding for a minute- until you injected politics. Everyone has to work together on this- and injecting your politics doesn't help: - end the war in Iraq to free up the funds for the above initiatives Why not "end (insert any expensive government program)to free up money?" See, once you inject Iraq, the conversation becomes about Iraq and not about Global Warming... - Wind mill farms granted more eminent domain power (e.g., to overcome NIMBY opposition by estate owners in Marblehead, Massachusetts because "it ruins the view"). Marblehead? Why not mention Nantucket Wind in Nantucket Sound? Is it because the liberal hero of the left, Ted Kennedy was the one who was a Hippo-Crite by shooting it down? Kennedy is a good example of the attitude about saving the environment, i.e. everyone else but me should go green....
Given how much it costs, they're hardly going to use it as a doortstop, are they?!
When did $52 million become expensive for a government project? Seriously. I am not a mathemetician, but I did pretty well in math classes, but it took me a minute or two to figure out what the US debt was when I saw it. I know that our friends in the UK are not as fiscally irresponsible, but it seems that when people are spending others money, they don't worry much about where it goes... Thats ia a politician-esque trait... Seriously, when your national debt is easier to read in scientific notation, you have a problem.

As any accountant or auditor knows, a number by itself is no good. You need something to compare it to, or at least some context.
If there are 100 errors on a page with 200 facts, then of course 33% is huge, as it means there are 33 additional errors.
But if there are 3 errors on a page with 1000 facts, 33% is one additional error.
Sort of like, is gas goes up in price 33%- I remember in 1997 gas was 99 cents a gallon, so 33% increase would be about 33 cents. But if gas is 3$ a gallon, a 33% increase would be about a dollar extra....
seen
Keep in mind that word is very broad. If you do a million searches, and one has pr0n in it, you have seen porn online.
If you have recieved a billion emails, and one was an html email with pr0n in it, you have "seen" porn online. I would guess the number would be more like: 99.99% of people online have seen pr0n online, whether or not it was intentional is another issue.
My understanding was that the percentage that goes to the theater changes as time passes, i.e for the first week the movie is out the theater gets 0-1%, the second week the theater gets 10%, the third week the theater gets 20% and so on... (I know these aren't exact %s, but are used to demonstrate the concept). I have always been led to believe that theaters make the majority of their profits (vast majority) from concessions...)
A movie is still a standard date- it is so easy, dinner and a movie, and it is still cheaper than dinner and a theater show...
And if people want a theater experience, then they can go to the theater. There are theaters that show 4,5, and 6 month old movies. They are great when you want to see something like the Wedding Crashers on the big screen. We all have our own reasons for not going to the theater. Mine include (I am only listing things that the theater/movie is involved in, because obviosly my not having much free time isn't the fault of the theater)the price of tickets (especially when movie stars I can't stand are making $20 million a movie), people talking in theaters, cell phone use in theaters and fewer "must see" movies. I also am turned off (I live in Ohio) by actors that come to my state and tell me how to vote, not just in national politics, but also on state issues.
There is also indirect competition (For those who never had to suffer through marketing classes, indirect competition are things that are not direct competition, but people may use them instead of your product, e.g. kite flying is indirect competition to TV).
I don't even need to click your link to know that you are talking about the middle manager creates suicide powerpoint Onion story. That, along with the Man who tells people he doesn't own a TV are my 2 favorite Onion stories.
But seriously- why threaten suicide if you aren't going to follow through with it- Apple is a company. Say it with me. A Business They would be dumb maybe not to capitalize on their anniversary with a hot product, but still, we aren;'t talking about Brad and Angelina here.
Stephens is part of the very media that overhypes Apples announcments, and then gets upset when they aren't announcing a Windows busting machine that also makes orange juice, makes women fall all over you, and will transport you to the moon.
I will be master of the obvious- Giving things away for free is not a business model that leads to big profits. Give away ad supported free stuff is a different story....
I would take free wifi in exchange for looking at some ads-
I am not saying that at all- Think of an actuarial table for life insurance. I am saying that if you are in a group that has a high chance of AIDS- that this drug makes sense. It is the same reason that I when traveling to other certain countries (I am American), there are certain immunizations that I had to get.
I am married- Is there a possibility that my wife will cheat on me, and the person she cheats with will have aids, and she will get it, and I will get it? Yes. Is that a large possibility? No. Is it a big enough possibility that I would take this drug? No. The same reason I don't have flood insurance. I live on high ground in Northeast Ohio. There is a remote chance I could get flooded- but not big enough to pay for flood insurance.
Also- to only divide the AIDS risk categories into gay and straight, is folly.
Just looking at demographics, and ignoring behavior (you can be in a high risk demo and have zero chance of contracting AIDS, by behavior) I believe you miss some things. There are certain races that have higher AIDS cases among straight people. There are ceratin education levels , certain geographic areas etc that have higher AIDS cases amongst straight people etc etc etc etc....
And don't forget the fact that it is "bisexual" men who are pumping AIDS into the straight population....
If you are like me and are married (or in a monogomous relationship) and don't use IV drugs, then you likely don't need these meds. If you are a gay man who has unprotected sex, or are an IV drug user, then these drugs are a good idea. (Yes- I understand that getting someone who doesn't care about themselves enough to not shoot up with needles, to take a prophylactic drug may not be likely).
I email other countries all the time- I have friends in London, and some in Germany. When my sister was in Australia for a semester, I emailed her every day.
I visit foreign sites all the time- a lot of British music sites, and I love the BBC. When young, i watched BBC shows, and listened to the BBC World Service on shortwave.
I visit Carnival sites of course.
What the internet has allowed me to do, is see what people in other countries think, not just hear (occasionally, because even the few foreign counties the US Media pays attention to aren't mentioned frequently) what the US media says they think.
So the answer to the question how many foreign sites do I visit is many, and more than once a day.
Um- What about this one? Debbie Does Dallas The Musical! (Not a joke) All the plot, no nudity or sex!!! (Link is marginally suitable for work- pic just shows bare midriffed actresses in cheerleader costumes)
http://www.abc.net.au/thingo/txt/s1175206.htm
Because man, the plot of most porn movies is so good, that you can take out the sex, and have an awesome story!!!!
There is a limited market, so printing and inventory are expensive (especially with actual stores) and also, the books expire quickly. You can get old tech books cheap. I bought a book on Photoshop CS2, it was $60. The same book on PhotoShop 7 was $12. With tech books you have to sell as much as you can before they expire.
And keep in mind, things are worth what people are willing to pay. If no one will pay more than $10 for a Ferrari, your Ferrari is worth $10. If someone is willing to pay $100,000.00 for your 88 Civic, your 88 Civic is worth 100K. I don't know of any business that charges less than they could for their product.... (Loss leaders etc are a marketing strategy....)
You missed the best part of the Tommy quote, the author's sarcasm- From TFA: Microsoft execs also talked about "Impacting People," then they dragged out fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger, who seemed very "impacted" as he sang praise for Microsoft programs. Actually, he was reading meaningless statements from a TelePrompTer. Here is one of his quotes, verbatim: "When you combine people and technology, you have a very powerful combination." Think about that. Just let it sink in for a minute.
Are you a typing teacher, of just an asshole! Wait, that should be a question mark. Are you a typing teacher, or just an asshole? Shoot, which is correct? Can you help me out- that question is rhetorical, you clearly are an asshole, so do I need the question mark?
By the way, welcome to the internet, where some quickly written messages lack proper punctuation. Also, sometimes, GASP! typos show up!
But seriously, I do appreciate your help. I wish I had you around when I was working on my Master's thesis!
Here is some punctuation help:
Go fuck yourself.
FUCK YOU!
Do you think I care about your opinions about my typing? (The answer is clearly no...)
You, sir, are a complete asshole. Wow, commas and a period! You must be salivating!!! Wow, three exclamation points! Holy Cow! Two more!
Mr Dada- your implication is clear- and I question the intelligence of anyone who posts that kind of threat on a public board. The FCC, like any gov't organizations, can overstep its bounds. And if you don't like it, it can be changed with your vote. I don't want to talk politics, but the tired internet debate is just like the (insert contraversial subject) debate. It is the apathy of the American electorate that allows these crazy schemes to go forward.
Lest you think the above post is speculative: The FCC is an important organizations, as the following article illustrates. http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/03/20/tech/mai n1419502.shtml
