    Python doesn't have turtle graphics; the language these folk created is Basic with turtle graphics.

    ClubCompy isn't Programming 101, it's fun with computers.

    My kids learned Logo and got pretty good with it but neither of them codes for a living.

    Identifying a suspect isn't the same thing as solving a crime. It's nice to know that the UK cops are no less likely to misrepresent the data than our cops here in Canada.

    In Canada, the suspect to criminal ratio is about 8:1, and we don't have cameras to harvest suspects from. Your numbers are way off.

    MS has not made any claims; non-existent claims can hardly be desperate.

    In any case, there's little MS can do, since they don't make the hardware. It's HP and the rest of MS' OEMs that are dropping the ball.

    In my first three jobs out of college, I worked with real engineers in engineering departments. The facilities were a very large hall full of desks and filing cabinets. My "space" was my desk and room to wheel my chair around...maybe 25 square feet.

    I don't remember this being a problem.

    My first private office was nice, but I always missed mumbling a question to myself and getting two or three answers from the people around me. Getting to eavesdrop on conversations between the more senior guys was part of my education.

    Maybe a move back in that direction is a good thing.

    Sometime around 1975 I decided I wasn't going to play with low-powered computers anymore. I went looking for a job on a Cray or one of the big Control Data supercomputers.

    I never got the job, but I did get the compute power; it's in my pocket.

    But Google does nothing to restrict how you use their products. In fact, they encourage novel use; that's why all of their services have APIs.

    Apple insists on owning your whole experience and is lobbying for legislation to turn their wants into law.
