Most companies punish competence with layoffs, write ups, or firings. Anytime a worker decides to take tasks head on it is punished since most managers prefer to micromanage and keep expectations low of the staffs.
I spent a 8 years setting up and training IT departments, and then moving onto the next job, and I always found through time that the most mediocre rise to the top of the Fortune 500's, and the good workers get shown the door for being to independent. I believe this is called Job Security instead of Computer Security.
I guess OSX, and all the apps that come along with it cost Apple nothing, as well as the R&D that go into both the hardware and software.
Apple is not Dell and be greatful for that!
Now it isn't long before your UPS/Fedex/DHL boxes come with tape stating 1 time use. Gone the days of using those boxes to send out other packages or store crap lying around your house.

Shouldn't Netflix be patenting a system to keep track of movies incoming/outgoing as well as recommendation to moves you might like?
I know Netflix has been offering this since I used the service back in the olden days, I believe even prior to Amazons patents on said technology.
Why fight competition with marketing when you can just create a dozen patents and sue your competition into oblivioun of file Cease and Desist orders.

If the war on drugs were to be stopped and only opiates, cocaine and illegal behind the counter related drugs were consider illegal we could end starvatation in this country as well as repair our defunct medical system and cure many other ills.
Actually that is incorrect. I have formatted Windows about 20 times in the last 2-3 years, being that it is windows and pretty much standard to format every time the OS gets corrupt, and I have access to every song I have purchased on iTunes.
You have to de-authorize your computer before you do the format, and then when you re-install itunes just select the paid tracks and authorize them on the new computer.
Watch Fox News, the economy is great, everyone is working, and soon everyone will own a home in this great ownership society we are now living in. And let us not forget that Private Accounts is glorious and great and will save social security

I for one am sick and tired of running a PC and Mac, my desk is not that large, plus its a waste of electricity!
I was planning on upgrading my aging G3-300mhz and my P4-2.8ghz shortly, now I can wait and get 1 computer that allows me to work the way I want when I want instead of switching computers.
Microsoft takes the opportunity to get out of the OS wasteland and throws all its apps to OSX for Intel. Their strategy "Well new Macs can run Windows, so none of our users will be left behind"
It is about time AOL became just another portal pushing their name recognition to get advertising sales. Its fucking ridiculous to think they could maintain all these overpriced dial up users for any long stretch of time with Broadband becoming so cheap and mainstream.
Then again it is probably too late, they should have done this 2 years ago or more.

How is this news? Music/CDs sold much better in the days of a real Napster. Back when people would download music and then go out and buy the content they actually found worth there money.
I used to buy 75-100 CDs per year when there was a napster, now I buy zero cds, and maybe purchase 5-7 songs off itunes a year.
I know I have downloaded TV shows I did not have time for in my schedule and now the shows I like make it into my DVR.
I have downloaded some movies I thought I might like, and the ones I do like I have purchased since they deserve a home in my 400 DVD changer, and I have recommended to friends who have also purchased them after watching them over at my house.
