    Now, not only are laptops a distraction for students so they aren't learning, but the teacher has to monitor the students preventing them from teaching. I struggle to see how any learning can take place in schools these days.

    Uh, no. iBooks do not come with airport. They come "Airport ready" which means when you go out and buy the $100 airport card it will fit in your iBook. It is therefore an extra cost. Thats not just for regular folks either, iBooks brought through Apple's education store do not come with airport either.

    I use regular TWM myself. I really don't see teh need for much else. It's fairly customizable and lightweight enough to run on any system that can run X. But if you want a few more bells and whistles Ctwm is good too.

    if you run the panaramic quake mod (posted last week sometime) with the command line "C:\Quake\panquake.exe -width 1024 -bpp 16 -winram 256 -game oq" (substituting in appropriate resolution, colordepth and ram of course)you can shoot at the tree zombies in panaramic mode (and it uses the .wav files from quake so you wont get all the error messages)

    Forgive me if I'm very wrong (I dont have a GUI so I can only go by the descriptions in the FAQ) but this sounds to me a whole lot like a Newton 2100 ripoff without the nifty handwriting recognition or the ability to play Quake.

    Sure it would kill your arm for teh first couple of days, but use it for just 15 minutes 3 times a day and see improvement in as little as 2 weeks. This could be the next big exersize infomercial for geeks.

    Ok so this wouldnt be too good for wearable applications (powerconsumption, etc), but it could be perfect for areas that are none too big (e.g. dorm rooms) where people need or want multiple boxen.

    And of course the obligitory "Imagine a beowulf cluster of these"

    Althought I dont know how to use an umlaut in HTML, replacing the umlauted (is umlauted a word?) U with a "ue" is acceptable and pronounced the same way (e.g UeberTiVo )

    In general they are pretty dissapointing, but I think the Pepsi ads (Bob Dole was somewhat scary, but good, and Kaspaov was really funny) have been darn good.

    I could see this as being very comfortable if it were mounted to the side of your chair, that way your arms hang limp at your sides and you type. If it's on a table as shown in the picture I think it would suck.

    They should have a seperate phone number for geeks to use, list it right below the regular number, but have it in binary, or hex. Or (if its on a webpage thet these numbers -or e-mail for that matter - are listed) put it in the source and in binary or hex, or put it in the source and PGP encrypt it. If you can find the geek phone number or e-mail, you get to Tier 2 or 3 right away, or maybe connected to a pop quiz (get 10 questions right you go to Tier 2, 15 questions right go directly to Tier 3)

    Of course this would probably cost tons of money to be implemented by a big corporation, but it would sure be nice.

    This is great, the NSA is not liable for "loss of data" so anything that finds its way from your hard drive to their's, its not their fault.
