  5. Why should any student worry about getting ahead honestly when the most powerful people in the world commit massive amounts of fraud and nobody seems to care? Haven't we sent the message to people that fraud is OK? Why not academic fraud?

    This form of fraud involves unauthorized copying. Allowing mere students to engage in this activity unchecked may send the wrong message about what isn't allowed when it comes to those powerful peoples' imaginary property.

    Plus at some point he'd have to get from the automobile to an airplane, which would expose him to arrest, and even if he got to the airplane, it wouldn't be given clearance to take off. He's stuck.

    First problem would be solved by parking the auto in the plane; Ecuador has C-130s (first cargo aircraft I looked up). Alternatively, place Assange in an intermodal shipping container designated as a diplomatic pouch, destined for air/sea transport.

    I agree entirely. But how are we to convince the rest of the population who take pride in the fact that they have nothing to hide from the government?

    A family member of mine claimed she changed her stance after I gave her a copy of Bruce Schneier's essay, "The Eternal Value of Privacy."

    Schneier also recommends Daniel Solove's essay, "'I've Got Nothing to Hide' and Other Misunderstandings of Privacy."

    It sounds like the solution is to "have virtually no deputies left," then, until they start getting applicants that can follow their department rules and the laws they're supposed to be enforcing. If that doesn't happen, we're likely better off redirecting those budgets to social programs that reduce the number of people that resort to crime in the first place.

    Bullshit — there's no seeding. I am, as far as I can determine, the sole seeder of many DRM-free, mixed-media works and data leaks. Many of these items are not available for purchase, anywhere, at any price; they're at risk of disappearing to the digital dark age or into the "vaults" of shortsighted, greed-driven copyright holders.

    I serve approximately 100 gigabytes per day, and intend to continue indefinitely. I welcome and thank others who help protect our culture/data from the clutched fists of those who seek to serve only themselves, control other peoples' access to data, or both.

    If you're using uTorrent, try this: Ctrl + P > Protocol Encryption; Forced

    The death penalty doesn't discourage crime. In the US, execution rates correlate with murder rates. Maybe we should examine how things are done in societies that aren't oppressive shit holes? Western European governments abandon executing prisoners, yet they're generally more receptive to the will of the voters (as opposed to corporate interests and lobbyists — business as usual in the US).

    Although regime (government) is used as a synonym in place of regimen (medical/therapy plan), the reverse is not true.
