You hit the nail on the head. Content should be separated as much as possible from presentation. Just think of CSS and XHTML. Maybe the reason why M$ wants to break this rule is that it goes against some of W3C's fundamental philosophies.
Could someone please explain to me why on earth my original post was modded offtopic? I was suggestion an application of this new discovery. That is, creating neurones which could survive in an oxygen deprived environment. Surely this could be useful?
"I... built up a circuit using discrete silicon elements. Packaged grown-junction transistors were used. Resistors were formed by cutting small bars of silicon and etching to value. Capacitors were cut from diffused silicon power transistor wafers, metallized on both sides. This unit was assembled and demonstrated to Adcock on August 28, 1958."
This guy was a true hacker! I wish I had the opportunity to meet him. Rest in peace Jack Kilby.
Apple purchased the rights to SoundJam MP, and hired the three programmers who created SoundJam MP to help develop iTunes. SoundJam MP was originally owned by Casady & Greene.
This is great idea! What about hosting blogs of citizens of other countries where internet censorship run rampant? I guess the campaign does cover a lot of territory, given China's immense population.
The key is taking the time to walk through the advanced calibration setup under System Preferences > Displays > Color. When I first got my iBook, it has a yellowish tint to the screen. After some careful calibration, it now looks almost as good a PowerBook's screen (a little less bright though).
Now to say something about the job market... just to stay on topic;)
I just landed a PERL programming job on Friday! However, I'm Canadian, so I guess that doesn't really say anything about the state of job availability in the US IT industry...
I say start from scratch, and engineer a system for today's hardware. Also, don't try to provide backwards compatibility for X. Just start fresh. Application developers will follow.
k, I don't know whether this "between 2 and 5(!) times slower" stat is true, but even if it is, it should hardly matter. The time it takes to create a thread should be insignificant compared to the time it takes for the thread to do its work (at least, in a good program). Not to mention that in the case of a multithreaded server (like Apache 2), thread pools are used so that less time is spent creating and destroying threads.
'battery failure' is when 'the capacity of an iPod's battery to hold an electrical charge has dropped to four hours or less of continuous audio playback, with earbuds attached, with respect to the Third Generation iPod, or five hours or less of continuous audio playback, with earbuds attached, with respect to the First Generation iPod and the Second Generation iPod.'
Remember how long Walkmans used to last on rechargeable (NiCad) batteries? 4-5 hours seems pretty decent to me...
oh wait... never mind... I was thinking that they'd be lined up with the sun as well. I'm a dolt :p
that Earth is BETWEEN Saturn and Venus, there fore the only planet's we'll see lined up are Mercury and Venus?
good old fashion plastic explosives?
Since they're including less software, does it cost less, more, or the same as regular XP editions?

THIS is the kind of news that belongs on Slashdot! Great find :)
and MAC == Media Access Control sublayer, one of the two sublayers which make up the data link layer of the OSI reference model :p
It's Mac, not MAC

What if, through genetic engineering, we created neurones with these conductive pili?
I just read the Wired article you linked to. Talk about Sony being a bastard!
I just finished reading an article on Linux viruses which I thought to be quite interesting. Here's the link.
I agree with the parent's definition:
From the substitute for going on vacation article:

umm.. why was I modded as offtopic? READ MY 3RD PARAGRAPH!!!

maps.google.com is amazing! Google's programmers are geniuses!
Dark Side of the Source... that's a great one!
Now (hopefully), mac users will been able to use all the same cards as pc users.

and what about Microchip's PICmicro, or their dsPIC series?
