    You're one of those that used to move vital things out of the System Folder in the pre-OSX days, aren't you.

    Clicking a graphic file with a preview icon automatically generated by the Finder still refuses to look "selected" as typical icons do. Normally, when you click an icon, it'll go 25% darker. This doesn't happen to thumbnailed graphics.
    Not broken here. Looks like they go 50% darker, however.

    Its not the bomb per se, its the ability of the government to do this anytime it pleases.
    It was wartime. Not just "I'm gonna show my Daddy I can kick Saddam's ass." wartime, but real defending-our-very-soil wartime. The rules necessarily have to apply differently during times like that.

    (Thus, the reason the current administration wants you to believe in an Iraq war, so they can play by the rules they want to play by, and not what is guaranteed by our Constitution.)

    You can't compare the WWII era with what is happening right now.

    The resolution of the s-video output was limited to 800x600...
    I'll bet the s-video output was limited to 400 lines of NTSC video. There is no XXXbyXXX measurement of NTSC video.

    Yeah, I know what he meant (ie: The highest resolution that could be downconverted to NTSC was 800x600.) but most people won't, and that's the whole point of a review.

    Next time you want to compare s-video outputs, use the proper tools and terms.

    Is this true? Bryan Adams soundtrack on Spirited Away? This is cultural vandalism almost on a par with the Taliban blowing up Buddhas with RPGs or Giorgio Moroder's Metropolis soundtrack. Mr Eisner seems determined to wreck what he cannot hope to emulate. I wonder if he's not the least bit nervous that Miyazkai sent him that Samurai sword one time.

    Oh and by the way, calling Spirited Away anime, just because it's from Japan, is wrong. Miyazaki's work stands apart from any genre.
    The term "anime" does not define a genre. Anime is simply the Japanese word for animation.

    Oh, I understand. I even bought the DVD, but I haven't been overly joyous enough yet to dare watch it (having seen the fansub long ago.)

    Why don't you go listen to the song, and specifically to the lyrics, and get back to us on how badly this song sucks.

    Our users seem to have problems with the DVI-VGA adaptors for some reason when they're doing ppt presentations on the road.
    Oh good, I'm not the only one who's seen that. I rent projectors and had a few PO'd customers that blamed it on me. Of course, then I also see them unplug the adaptor from their TiBook by yanking on the cable.

    Luckily, I've added some projectors with DVI inputs to my inventory. Solves many problems.

    Is apple falling way behind? How do these systems compete with the 2 and 3 GHz intel systems coming out?
    How fast is the processor actually running on those portable 2 and 3 GHz intel systems? When running full speed, how much battery life are they seeing?

    I'll bet you still can't watch a DVD straight through while on battery with those intel systems.

    If they were deploying military stuff we'd more than likely not hear it anyway. Hams listen to a LOT of stuff, including space missions but it's not what you think. If you had a clue you'd know that.
    Actually, I do have a clue, having been a HAM. Most HAMs take pride in having received and understood transmissions from seldom-heard sources. HAMs have also done some amazing things involving shuttle flights. If you had a clue, you might know that.

    Because it's not their money. It's the bank's money, and they are just loaning it. I don't know anyone under 18 that I'd loan money to.

    People under 18 can have checking accounts. That's how you learn how to manage money, by having a finite amount to manage, not by having some open-ended letter of credit.

    Most people can fumble their way through the current Word version by searching the menus and using their doc "wizards".
    No, they can't. Are you some expert in high-technology training? Have you ever taught a class? Have you ever even bought a parent or grandparent a computer?

    "Most people" don't use computers by choice. They don't have innate skills. Many of them still align text with the spacebar.

    Stop the whining and learn to use the god damn things...
    Well, there's the answer to the headline's inquiry right there.

    Only reason anyone buys stuff online is because it is marked down enough to cover shipping...shipping+tax means its more or as expensive as retail stores, so there is no reason to buy there...
    No. Some of us don't live in Dallas/Austin/SanFrancisco/LA/NY. Buying online is the only way to get things that the generic stores (WalMart/Sears/Penneys) don't carry.

    So what if it hurts online sales. I don't think it will, that much. If anything, it'll help local sales more than it hurts the online retailers.
