The end result is that a large portion of of the Australian citizenry are technically breaking the law, and while that may not sit poorly with a nation born of criminality, it makes the legal system look a tad bit ridiculous.
You think that's ridiculous? You obviously didn't see the word transferbangle.
Or to put it a different way, Transferbangle: Australian for Beer!
This is amazing. Every time you think that it can't get worse, it does. There are people on Slashdot right now saying that the RIAA are baby-eaters, and it's getting harder and harder to resist taking it to the extreme.
Which RIAA moron thought this would result in good PR down the road? Stuff like this will always come out.
I see no link between MAKE and this book, besides the similarity of the names. Then again, "make" is a pretty common word. I think you've got your wires crossed on this one.
I was surprised by the number of projects that were constructed from recycled components, many scrounged from devices on hand, purchased cheaply on eBay, or dug out of dumpsters.
Any faithful/. reader would know the benefits of dumpster diving...

Well, that's why we build stuff. Hopefully the more experience you get, the better it gets. Plus you can't duplicate the feeling that *you* made whatever you happen to be using at the moment.
"SUSE LINUX 7.1 with the new 2.4 kernel was highly anticipated by the Linux community and reviewers were writing "SUSE 7.1 is Chockful Of Goodies" (byte.com) and named "An Embarrassment of Riches" (linuxnovice.org). Although many reviewers did not agree to the Linux Planet statement: "Pack It Up and Go Home: SUSE Created a Windows-Killer", all of the reviewers agreed, that there is now a serious competitor lighting the radar screens. Offering a cut down, simple "Personal" version, did the important step towards the non-technical "non-geek" home desktop users."
Sounds to me too like it's not Novell talking. Hype is not the sole responsibility of the company.
The only reason I decided to try SuSE at all was because they finally had a non-crippled, community driven initiative in SuSE 10.0 OSS. The community is something that will work for them.
Plus, SuSE is more user-friendly than RedHat, and therefore puts more consumers at ease. There is a reason RedHat is mainly a server distro.
Is that just a philosophy, or an actual corporate mission statement?
Just want to make sure, so I can preempt the thousands of future posts about how the GP has become greedy, and they're not cool anymore, and people wish something would come out of beta.

I'd like to see how that one turns out.
Next on Slashdot: Make your own nuclear reactor!

If you're going to do a book review, at least title it as such!
aka: "Book Review: Makers"
Those of us who use RSS would like to know.
It's a government agency, what did you expect? They just let you in without any screening whatsoever?
The US government wants to make sure that, if you join their ranks, they know more about you than anybody else. IMO, a good thing.
there's no mention of this in the bible, dodos are just a theory of atheist scientists
who ya gonna believe, the bible or your own lyin eyes??
So the MS in NBC stood for "Microsoft"? I always thought it was "More Stupid NBC"...
Come to think of it, there's not much difference there...
My God! It's full of Stardust!
(no, I am not high)
Hell, I'm not surprised. I beat myself in the 40 yard dash every day.
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you thing it means.
heh
You wouldn't, perhaps, remember proper gerund useage, would you?
You wouldn't, perhaps, remember the proper spelling of usage, would you?
$sys$HIV... insertion of media...
Nah, too easy.
THE HORROR!
goatse guy's even worse in ascii...
There's the obligatory car-computer analogy. Next up, the "In Soviet Russia" jokes...
Naah... too easy...
You forget, the average user doesn't want to upgrade an OS every release.

Obviotically, you have misunderestimated the geniosmarterness of the reviewifier. All you need is a little reedumacation.
