From looking at the pictures, I think this would be a nice looking little hybrid vehicle.
And as for the USB for the key... I seriously doubt they would put the encoded information to start the car on the USB drive. It sounds to me like they attached a USB drive to a chip that starts the car. So even though they are on the same board they are completely separate so it isn't easily hacked or copied.
Tiles pulling a person up would be awesome, but I'm not sure it would be very practical.
I think a good next step would be to have alarms below and above water when something like this happens so even if a lifegaurd isn't available, someone else can go in and save the person drowning before it's too late.
What would be more helpful is if T-mobile brought over generators and created computer kiosks in shelters and surrounding areas with free Internet access (and phones!) so people can contact their loved ones and let them know, "Hey I made it out safely!"
Otherwise I agree with what people have already said... This is PR bull-caca!
Home schooling actually came to mind when I first read this article, but I think children need to be in a social setting because that is a big part in the learning process.
Not all home schooled children learn the social aspect of life.
Push the technology of hybrid vehicles and extend them to buses that take kids to and from school.
I think the submitter was hinting at having kids learn from home with the high-speed internet access, but I've taken college courses over the net and it's just not the same as being there in person. I do not believe we are there yet...
The Internet/computers and television will slowly merge together to become one. I'm sure lot's of people have seen this coming for a while. I see this as just the next logical step. I think it's great!
Most people don't get too many bluetooth messages on their devices so when something like this happens they say "okay" to accept and see what the ad is all about. After a while people will get sick of it though, and fewer and fewer will accept them.
This isn't why Apple switched over to Intel chips! If that was the case then why is it that when someone boots up MAC 0S X on a PC it says x86 everywhere?! (I've seen it with my own eyes) That's because they changed the MAC OS X to be run on x86 not some new EPIC or long word architecture... Otherwise Apple would be wasting their time trying to get it to run on x86 if they new of some new architecture coming out by Intel
And yes I know it said this new architecture would run old x86 stuff but if you are Apple you want your OS to be optimized for the latest and greatest.
Cutting the cord would be nice... This doesn't apply just to laptops people! Having one less cord coming out of the back of a desktop is great! Especially if you have a TON of desktops... Those messy cords add up!
I'm not sure slashdot would fall into the.NAZI category, but you do bring up a good point in a round-about way. There will be people out there saying, "Heyyy... this site isn't.XXX!!! What a rip off!"
There is porn on the Internet. Why try to hide it? This just helps better differenciate it from everything else, so hopefully one day you don't type in something like whitehouse.COM and get some porn site, because to get a porn site you'd have to put in the.XXX!
All sites won't switch right away and some will lose their name before they can switch, but hopefully EVENTUALLY all the porn sites will switch over and everyone will be happy.
People who like porn can throw in the.xxx and know they are getting what they want. People who don't like can throw in the.com and know they won't be subjected to any porn. EVERYONE WINS!
I like the idea of giving the old systems to the hospitals... Not only do you make some hurt or sick people a little more comfortable, but you might also get a tax write-off at the same time.
Otherwise, I don't see a big deal in selling the game system like most people have already said. Unlike the old Atari systems, there are A TON of the PS1's and PS2's or XBox's, so if you ever wanted to go back and relive your childhood later, you could always buy the system off E-bay (extremely cheaply) later on in life.
Want to test my theory? Go to Ebay and type in "NES" or "Nintendo Entertainment System" and see how cheap things are for someone to relive their childhood...
Text messages or instant messaging on the cell phone are not free, but I believe the article was talking about tradition use of Instant Messaging - meaning on computers connected to the Internet and not mobile devices.
I still hear of many, many teens getting in trouble for using insane amounts of minutes -- especially when it's a shared family type plan.:-)
The adults and older people should be happy that teens are using IM's. Because..:
They aren't calling long distance on the phone or using too many cell phones minutes to talk to their friends.
AND In many cases they aren't tying up a phone line (if they have broadband).
I say this because it's the adults who will most likely be paying the phone bills and/or not being able to use the phone if their teenager is on it all day.
Give people anonymity and of course they are going to do bad things with it. The net is as anonymous as it needs to be. I see this only causing more trouble and headaches...
You are exactly right.... so for all you out there who hate Apple you should think about this: If Mac's gain more market, Microsoft has to work harder FOR YOU to make a better operating system than it had before. Competition is a wonderful thing.
I wrote a little something in PHP that takes someone's screen name who clicks on a link to my page in my AIM profile. Other than that you can set up links using a site like IMCHAOS that will grab people's screen names who clicked on your link.
I fail to see how I'm being stupid. Having this laptop isn't a neccesity to me at all. I'm sure the PPC will be supported for a very long time... that wasn't my concern at all. I'm just waiting to see how much of a speed increase there will be when using the Intel chips, because I can wait.
A lot of people are going to hang on to their older Apple laptops until they have the faster Intel chip version... I was considering getting an iBook (even though I'm mostly a windows/linux guy) but I stopped considering it until Intel starts producing the faster chips.
I just thought it would be nice to have clearer sounding calls, and plus if there is room for better quality we could do more with video phones which is the next step, isn't it? If we have a connection that can handle that much data then I think video phones would become the norm.
But you are right... for just voice, the quality now is enough.
I wonder if this means we can have a better sound quality coming out of the telephones or if they are just going to keep the quality the same to use less power.
I think this guy is going to get a lot of money for this thing because of some huge Star Wars fan out there... It will be interesting to check back later today to see where the bid is at.

So this is good advertising.... for now... =)
I don't mind being wrong or clueless, so how about you fill me in?

We pay a lot of money for NASA to be able to do this... They should know if it's something that needs to be taken care of or not.
But then again, with the millions we spend on this ships there shouldn't be anything hanging off of it in the first place.
Oh come on... If he was able to pull it off with just his hands it would have gotten torn apart or cooked off during re-entry.
Buuut... Better safe then sorry, I guess.
When I said "phone" I meant land line phone.
:-)

That's the best you can do AFAIK.
