Slashdot has turned into an incredibly angry, toxic environment over the past 5 years
It seems to me that almost everywhere on the internet is like this now, I used to post and comment on various different sites, these days I very seldom bother because people are more concerned with point scoring and arguing than actual discussion. This time I wanted to comment as another fairly old UID who is intrigued to see BZIX does with/. I'm glad to see you're working on fixing sourceforge's tarnished reputation good luck with your future endeavours ^_^
I logged in pretty much to say this but you beat me to it. Also not every pervert you bump into in WOW is a sex offender, desperate and lonely or perhaps just immature. Sadly there are all kinds of guys who think it's okay to treat girls like this online. These bans won't have any effect on that kind of behavior whatsoever though.
Sort of but not really, it's just a money grab by Microsoft. As I understand it most multiplayer games on xbox live are peer to peer and as such do not require dedicated servers, all that is required are matchmaking servers (which are what gets pulled down when a developer/publisher 'gives up' on that game's multiplayer).
I wonder if they will ever work on differnt versions for different TV standards such as PAL or SECAM. It would be interesting to directly compare the differences ^^;
I had the Saitek Eclipse for quite some time and I was really happy with it, I recently replaced it with the Cyborg mostly because I was liked the Eclipse so much. Same as yourself, my Eclipse is still fully functional, I just needed another keyboard.
I really like the Cyborg, the function to turn off the windows key is handy, the backlight is even better than that of the Eclipse and the keys feel awesome. The coating on the WSAD keys and the space bar is a little odd but nothing really worth making any fuss over, also the 'touch screen' media keys can be a little akward (at least the ones for volume are and they are about the only ones I use) but other than that It's a really nice keyboard.
Can't everyone evaluate art based on what appeals to them? I like to think that while some things are universally popular that doesn't mean popular opinion is the only one that is "right". It's impossible to make something everyone finds asthetically pleasing no matter what disipline you are working in. For some art is about emotion, for others it can be about abstraction.//Xi
I don't comment often, however this is something I wholeheartedly agree with. To someone who doesn't know Linux very well and is using it on the desktop, not even being able to make it into the window manager can render their computer useless to them. Should all Linux users really need to get used to the idea of rescuing their system from a command prompt when it all goes wrong, or should there be more user friendly ways of correcting problems when they occur?//Xi
It's possible, but wouldn't it be better to do a little more research before suggesting that this is the case?
How akward will Sony be about homebrew on PSP?

From what I read here about firmware (it's about the height of my knowledge on how PSP works) I'm guessing Sony is already trying to make it fairly difficult to run unlicensed software on the PSP. Personally I reckon that if there wasn't so much software availabe for x-box it wouldn't have sold nearly as well as it has (though I could well be wrong).
Do you think a console manufacturer is ever going to embrace homwbrew software, or will they always do their best to stop it?
Yeah, there could be quite a bit of truth in that. I'm doing a computing degree and had to apply for a grant to get a computer with (my PII 266Mhz thinkpad just wasn't gonna cut it) and for some reason instead of being nice about it and letting me make my own choices they have stipulated that I have to get a laptop...
Of course the main isssue I had with my old thinkpad is the fact it only had 32Mb of RAM the type of which isn't manufactured anymore and the video chip/card cannot be upgraded. Of course I've aquired a different machine through other means already, but still...
To be honest, I would be surpriesed if the PPC platform didn't become more popular especially with students, it's the most convergant device I've ever owned and the most portable. It's my phone, 'net access (the halls of residence I'm in has none), mp3 player, camera (albeit not great), notepad, organizer all in one, and that's before I install any other apps on it... The fact that all this can fit in my pocket rather than my backpack leads me to this conclusion.
Now if only I could code in DirectX 9 on the damn thing and do my uni project...

I did read TFA, however your straw man has little impact on the points myself and medcalf made.

I'm sorry, the Retrode doesn't have an adapter for NES carts. Feel kind of dumb for pointing it out now ^^;
I think the Retrode is just what you're looking for =)
Tonight the record was broken and there were over 60,000 players online ^_^

Because you're a lurker with no other real reason to post? ^^:
