Good grief, it's not Windows. Let's stop with the virus-everything-associated-with-MS. It only shows you're shilling the/. standard lines.
As far as I know, the XBOX and XBOX 360 haven't been ravaged by virii. Besides, virii aren't the real problem with Windows anymore... it's trojans and social-engineering attacks that cause the vast majority of malware and stability problems.
"Vista is six years and counting"
Um, no it's not. It's 3 years and counting. Way to spread the incorrect information. It makes your opinion so much more credible.
If you bothered to pull your anti-MS head out, you'd realize it's been published dozens of times that Vista was, as a project, rebooted 3 years ago after XP SP2. On top of that, if you bothered to try it yourself instead of ranting, you'd realize that battery life is not worse under Vista than XP. In fact, you have lots more control over individual power settings than I've seen on any other operating system.
The Best Buy allocation lists are out, and the Bellevue Best Buy is getting more than any other store. That's a whopping 200 Premium bundles (and a few dozen of those other bundles that you don't want).
Better plan on getting there on Monday for their midnight opening.
Will all my software stop working when they ship Intel Macs? Was the whole concept of universal binaries just a joke?
PowerPC Macs will be around for years, and I can think of no reason why a publisher would exclusively release Intel binaries until 2008-2009.
This is exactly the problem that the original article missed. It costs thousands of dollars to become a registered developer for a game console.. and guess what? You need to pay more to get the title published.
Ever wonder why you don't see mom-and-pop console games? It's basically impossible for an independent developer to get into the market. It's a closed, locked, proprietary platform meant to generate revenue for the console maker and those elite enough to be able to play.
Innovation doesn't happen with focus groups, or $20 million dollar projects. Hell, everyone here on/. oughta know that..
Token Analogy: Hollywood. Big-budget blockbusters written by committees tend to suck. That's where gaming is headed right now with consoles. BIGGER EXPLOSIONS! BIGGER BUDGETS! BIGGER ACTORS! MORE PROFIT! Uh.. quality? Innovation? Originality?
