I guess IE has finally reached the technological pinnacle that is netscape 4.

well since this about the release all we really know is that 185k PSP left a sony factory for a store in the UK.

I maybe completely off base here, but assuming apple still sells PPC chips untill 2006. and then switch won't they still have a large base of users who will still need repairs to their units for upto 3 years(that is how long apple longest service period is) They would still need the CPUs for servicing those units, instead of new units.

I can't stand this type of talk, who are you to decide what a company should or should not do if its not hurting anyone. Firing someone because a person from a india can do the job well enough that company doesn't care is not hurting them, its business, make profit, get rich, you know the Americian Dream. It you really want to help your fellow countrymen in the face of Evil Profit Hungry Corp(TM) then fight thing like DRM that don't even let me use the software on my PSP I choose to use.

If a machine can do your job should we outlaw the use of any and all machines, just becasue you want to keep the your job? Your logic is just plain faulty.

If you can be replaced with someone who is willing to work for less, then _his_ salary is what your job is worth, not yours, deal with it, your skills are just not worth what your being payed, and you can't handle that, but instead of getting a better edu, which would make your worth your salary you complain about it.

quiet complaining, and get a degree in something that ensure job security.

  12. No, its better on Is the Net an Independent Artist's New Radio? · · Score: 1

I been riding the indie web music wave for over a year now, and I can say that its better then the radio. Sites like epitonic, webjay, insound, and even cnet's own download.com are allowing indie bands a chance to get theirs names out there, legally. I honestly don't even listen to the radio (for music) anymore. Instead I go to one of the above mentioned sites, or artist/record label site, download some free, legal, (most importantly) DRM-free music, drop it onto my ipod, plug the pod into the car, and bame, no annoying DJ, no ads, no clear channel, better quality, no stupid people calling in requesting really crappy songs, its just me, and what I want to play when I want to play it.

Sure you can't get every song for free (legally), but you get a few. its similar the few songs that the mainstream bands put out to hype upcoming CD releases, only indie bands are using the existence of tech like the ipod to reach their fan base. whats more if you like something, you can usually DL the entire Cd for 10$ or less instantly of a music service like itunes, and most of them allow DRM that is acceptable, its really a win, win.

Well most the computers that use wireless are laptops (not that desktops don't, just laptop take most the market) and this is a large step im make BSD a good solution for laptops, but The OS is still lacking (last time i check) in many part that are more vital to laptops. For example, when I tried 5.3 (or was it .4) there was no support for my battery, my AMD CPU did not go down from full speed and there was no ACPI, standby or hiberantion. Now I heard they put in something that allow Pentium M to lower CPU speeds (not sure if the voltage changes, if it does not that would take away alot from the point of change the cpu speed). I an very greatful for all the work of the freebsd team, but it just seems to me that they are saying "we finished the front door, now all we have to do is build the house that goes around it."

that F/OSS has always been behind in stuff like this(high end 3D engines, well its somewhat high end), I mean the best looking 3D game I know thats F/OSS is based on the Q2 engine. There is just is not enough time, or willing people. Its a big project to make a good game, let alone a good engine, each one with a group of coder the size (i would guess) of the gnome devel team, and unlike gnome, companies like red hat have no need to support it, they aren't going to package it with support and sell it on the server market.

F/OSS Finally has a game engine that looks somewhat decent (its no unreal 2, but it is pretty), and as someone mentioned above, a clean and well written(compared to the Q2) codebase. I would like to see what will come of this, maybe we can see some small groups actually start writting really great opensource games or at least could mod the engine a little so it looks more modern for other to develop on. That would draw more people to the F/OSS community. People are always saying how they would consider switching but the gaming isn't there as much as it is in windows. We could finally respond with look at games X,Y,and Z they are all fairly modern looking and have great gameplay, plus they are free.
