He has a point, and so do you. You always have to assume there is power anyways. I was a maintenance man at a fab company for tractor trailers. We often had to work with the power on anyways. Heh, about 6 months ago my boss paid an electrician to come in and rewire a messed up network. After examining the system he determined what breakers were to be turned off. After working a few hours he began messing with some wires and BAM! Power went out. Someone plugged an extension cord into a receptacle 50 ft away and completed a circuit through the light bulb and he got nailed. He laughed it off and didn't get hurt. But even HE said never, never assume a wire is neutralized.
99 percent of the people in the world, who barely know how to use a computer anyways (Or will ever even have read about it) , is going to say something like; "What does this have to do with me?" Won't change anything for the downline. On a more particular note, does this mean for all those dark years of microsoft products I can now get back my money and time wasted?
And now you can imagine. You'll be tuning in radio stations just by thinking about it. Solar storms will either make you feel like crap or really wake you up. Insurance companies will increase your rates because your now far more likely to be struck by lightning. You won't need a wireless presence indicator anymore, your friends will just ask you to home in on one. When the TSA scans you, the agents will call you a skull bomber. But, on the bright side, my hopes the wold will become a simile for 'Johnny Mnemonic' are closer.
There is no way in hell your going to get me to do all that stuff to my brain just to get smarter. On the other hand, I'm still pretty young. If I get started now I can take it slow.
You've kind of missed the bigger picture here. And that is, the intention is FREEDOM. The guy that started this wanted to get an infrastructure out into the world that provided an avenue for truth in information. Before you SHOULD educate you need the truth. This would allow kids and adults alike in these countries access to a form of media not directly manipulated by their government. It was going to be done on the back of Linux not because of price but because no one wants a world addicted to one product (Windows). He had toyed with the idea of using windows at one point because (as the devil often does) they were going to offer a version of windows to him in an attempt to familiiarize all those little kiddies with their products. Yay. Despite good intentions the more worldly of us know that all that was going to happen was these governments would weaponize the systems. And lock them down with network restrictions in their DNS's and backbones only to continue pushing their selfish agendas. This is/was a clear indication that this particular country failed to use these devices in a proper manner. Yes, this is about education but its also about freedom.
Now wait though, this guy has provided a perfectly good point. As you can see, there are some instances where a computer is a complete waste on some individuals.
Seriously?! Try this on for size. 'Puss in Boots' with guess who? Christopher Walkens. Yes, it does exist. If you wanna see how a city slicker accent can seriously mess up a movie. Watch that one. The movie and Walkens go together like Apple and DRM free music.
Of course I'd have to disagree. I've always installed distros on older machines to make them work as fast as a new windows computer. But experiences vary I suppose. Right now I'm running flagship on a 2.6 gig P4 with only a gig of memory and guess what it reports. I'm not even using that whole gig or swap and I've got plenty of toys running. The only thing that slows it down right now is Rosegarden. And that is because of the graphics of the UI.
Companies aren't as stupid as you think. Sure, they can sell a few cool new toys to the geeks but its only a free way of getting market extablishment AND product research. After you've ironed out the bugs, then you start making it user friendly for non tech savy folks. Yes, I hate apple.
Lets ask who will be able to afford it? Or, who will fit the insurance requirements. If we aren't dead by then I think that kind of stuff will be elite only.
Due to extreme fatigue, Sarkozy no longer could support the weight of his giant head. He lost his balance and crushed the assistant standing next to him.
"Nothin's twixed my nether regions what aint been powered by batteries." Oh, dear lord. sweet sweet lord. I will play Kaylee's character uh huh.. I have to go now.

What are you talking about? I love MB but it has hosted some of the absolute worst science I have ever seen.

Ah. Yep, it'll be on the net. Wait till those crafty apes figure out ALL the places on a human body that the water cannon might fit.

The coolness factor has to meet the "super villain" level before I'll be interested.
Here Here, the sludge is safe!!
I wanna changing tatoo! Man that would be hilarious. Put it on banner mode, "I love Mom!!" "I love /."

But Pirate Bays emails are far, far, far more fun to read.
