    It is pretty obvious that electronic voting requires both anonymity (to remove fear of retributions) and accountability (to remove fraud).

    If we can do this reliably with bitcoin then there must be a way to implement this, right?

    Depressingly, what I conclude from this is that the only real answer is to pay people and have competition. Payment offers rewards to people who do not care about power or exclusivity. Except that it dosn't, people being paid can still care a great deal about power and exclusivity.
    It's assumed one would eschew the power/exclusivity perks to make the commercial model work.

    There was never any intention to crash the aircraft
    Are you thick? From the soliders' perspectives, there was no reason to comply. (I.e., there seemed to be no negative consequences for NOT filling out the forms. Excuse the double negative.) Which is exactly what the OP was pointing out.

    At this rate, Voyager 1 will have traveled a whole 1 ly by the year 20150 AD (give or take a few decades; and, yeah, that's supposed to be five digits).

    Sorta, but as I understand it this "RAM" is is more like clockwork. So if you somehow froze it in place you might be able to start it up again later (as opposed to the more conventional memory stick that loses its data forever when the power's cut).

    Yes, it is. Most people work for a company. And when they publicly support someone or something, most people will take that as some kind of tacit endorsement from that person's employer as well unless the company intentionally distances itself (in which case it's seen as veiled disapproval). Doesn't matter if you're just a clerk or janitor, but they're not the ones making big campaign contributions and taking out ads for candidates.

    Why don't you just de-prioritize eating fatty foods (or eating less in general)? No need to de-prioritize work and social time. I think PCM2 makes an extremely good point. Just because the solution to something is uncomplicated doesn't mean it's easy (which is how your comment reads).

    You're criticizing his assumptions, but your statement is also complete conjecture. There's absolutely no evidence one way or the other to suggest how many alien civilizations there are (if any at all).
