I live in the UK and drive most days and have never seen, set off or heard one of these alarms so that's a no for the first question.
I think the police being called immediately would be a silly idea due to false positives, especially in the situation you described. Some businesses have direct links to the police but most don't, especially for unmanned alarms where wasting police time would be an issue.
In such a situation I would probably just drive away and think nothing more of it, except maybe now I might remember this Slashdot thread
Most (all?) council run CCTV centres, the ones with CCTV looking down on streets and public parks are in direct contact with the police and will, if needed, call them on a direct line to the control room (some are even able to go straight through to a police officer on the ground) and let them know what the problem is, where it is and their description(s) of the person (people) doing it
IIRC an AO will not be sold in shops like WalMart who prefer to keep such games away from their "good family morals" business, losing out on the WalMart market is a bigger loss than just losing out on the 17 market
Or do a Rimmer on Red Dwarf and instead of sitting around bored for a few hours bank them in stasis, then you'll have more hours to spend doing what you enjoy.
Just don't get hit with a large explosion before you get to use them
I see the argument of Windows Updates a lot as a reason to use IE however you do not need to do it. Change Windows to be "Notify me of new updates" in the security center but "Do not download automatically" and you can do things like select which to install or choose to ignore some updates
I haven't used IE in months except to download FF and my computer is up to date but doesn't have every update released (i.e. things like Defender or Office Updates - I don't have office!)

Must remember to preview, that meant to say thanks, and be sorry for me being late saying thanks not you being late with the link
So again, thanks, and sorry for late thanks
You're welcome, also clicking the arrow next to the login link will open a login box, all of which is very cool and looks impressive but there is no way to know this is what it does. An arrow may be useful to those who expect them to do something, but those who have never seen something like that before will end up not accessing these features
To be fair to Microsoft in the screenshot it has 8 preset colours but also a transparency bar and a colour mixer to select your own settings, so it is dynamic, it just comes with some pre-picked ones to make it easier.

The only reason I still use Winamp is the Internet TV function. Streams such as Futurama on EveryShowSucks keep me entertained, and without ads.
As long as Internet TV remains free on WinAmp I will keep using it.
I wouldn't mind paying if the money went to the artist, and it was a decent price, but I'm sorry £9.99 for an album, of which the artist gets £1 (if that), it doesn't seem right.
Until they sort out the corruption then I will not be doing business with them.
Having started making websites around 6 years ago when I was 11, it seems everytime I learn something new another thing becomes popular.
Learn HTML and you need Javascript, learn Javascript you now need PHP, learn PHP and someone wants ASP, learn ASP and along comes AJAX, and flash is in there somewhere too. Then you have CSS layouts becoming (rightly so) popular
This is not a bash at new technology (or old technology becoming popular), but a bash at people seeing something and not realising it is there for a purpose, not for everything.

I got my copy of San Andreas at Wal-Mart. On sale.
Yes, but was it the M rated version? Not saying it wasn't, just wondering.

IF this ever becomes reality then I see some very rich people or interest rates going very low in accounts. Would be nice to see the future though
Welcome.... To the wold of 2 hours later

I'm using Firefox 1.5 up to date and clicking the triangles for me opens and closes sections.
I prefer the new one, it is an update but not too extreme. Anyone got a link to the other entries so I can compare?

I see you've played mirror - spooney before
All 5 mirrors, mod parent up
...Only because it is the only one I ever saw, based on viral ability alone it wins
Dangit, I thought I'd be playing as Hank Hill. Another dream shattered by reading the details

For all those interested here is the link: Quintessential Player

This seems a little complex, "making it harder to press the gas pedal".
Why not just use a cruise control type system to limit the speed?
Anyone care to explain this a bit more, as it makes no sense to me (not parent, TFA)
