Well, this is a book review for Volume 4 (well, the first part of volume 4) of Donald Knuth's series. I think you'd be better off starting him at volume one.
Earthquakes move much faster than tsunamis. From what I've heard it sounds like the earthquake itself did do even close to as much damage as the tsunami.
I think he's referring to companies like Motorola shipping Android devices with locked bootloaders, which makes it a bit harder to do custom ROMS and stuff like that.
I'm not sure if you were just being super sarcastic and my sarcasm detector is a bit off, but Hulu and Netflix have both announced that their apps will be out in the next few months. American Express does in fact have an Android app. It is called American Express For Android. I began at the end of your list and started working my way back, but before I got bored I found TED, CNN, and NPR apps. You do have a point about games unfortunately. There was a Plants Vs Zombies port/clone that got pulled from the market, although there is supposedly a real version from Popcap that will be out during the summer. Plants Vs. Zombie is really sort of an exception. The quality/amount of android games is somewhat disappointing.
Unless I'm missing something, there isn't actually a register button on the registration page, although there is an alert about some service being available within a month in the page source (http://www.naenara.com.kp/en/users/index.php?add) However, it's nice of them to tell you in the FAQ how secure your loin info is in their database when they also embed your attempted login info in the URL in plaintext
That is the real question for the BP photoshopping... Nope, The command center exists somewhere, and the topkill conference / meeting took plac...
Well, a major point of the article is that the command center might not actually exist anymore (The metadata on the picture says that it's nine years old)
They've shown the commercial a few times, but in timeslots that are probably pretty expensive (one of the games in the NBA finals for example). I also saw ome some ads for it online when I was on a computer without some of my usual browser extensions
Election day in the US was set a long time ago, when a much higher proportion of the population were two things that necessitated election day being on Tuesday—relatively rural farmers, and regular churchgoers. There were quite a few less polling places back then, so most people had to travel all the way to the county seat. This could be a daylong trip for a lot of people, so Sunday was out, as well as Monday for good measure. That said, most people do not have to travel via horse and buggy any more, so Tuesday elections are a bit anachronistic. It varies on a state by state basis, but in some states employers actually are required to give employees a few hours of to vote (in California at least). As far as I know, every state lets you vote absentee. You can mail your ballot in at your leisure weeks before the election itself.
A few months ago, I saw Harvard near the top on a list of "Best Value Colleges." I asked someone I know at Harvard about that, and it turns out that if your parents make less than $200,000, financial aid covers all of the costs except about 10% of their income per year. That's quite a bit more affordable than $30,000 a year for most people.
Well, the obvious problem that creates is, how do you tell the difference between a legal citizen who doesn't need to carry documentation, and an illegal one who just doesn't have it. Short of forcing everyone to carry papers around with them, there is no way to know which is which.
Parlament? That's about the 4th mistake in a slashdot summary I've seen in the last couple days that spell check should have caught, let alone an editor. Maybe there should be some system, along the lines of moderation or the fire-hose, that let's you vote for suggested changes for certain words in a story. If a change gets enough votes up, it can go to an automated system that compares how different the two words are. If they're very similar (maybe only a letter or 2 different) it can see if the second word is in a dictionary, and if it is change the story. This would prevent ever word from being changed to something like "GOTOGOATSE!!!!!!!!!!!!", which, although it may get voted if there are enough trolls, is probably neither similar to something in the original summary nor in a dictionary.
You can always do something like Mac OSX->Windows->Linux->Mac OSX until you get bored and/or your computer starts smoking
Seriously! The NSA fucking made SELinux, obviously they don't only care about Windows security
For me, the surprising part is that someone can access your dropbox after you've changed your password. I guess I'm an idiot then.

I haven't used edlin, but OSX comes with ed which sounds like the same sort of thing

That link does say that you can download Xcode 3 + iOS SDK. However, this article is about Xcode 4.

Fortunately, this is post admissions

Would you mind showing the source for that data? Just curious
Is the word with spelled wrong intentionally to create an opening for some sort of TRIPLE FACEPALM? [feel free to imagine a 3armed picard link here]
Ubuntu One is 2GB total. This service is 1/8 of the size per file . Presumably, you will be able to have more than 8 files uploaded.
Posting because I accidently modded parent overrated.
Anyways, I too told Google it was spam
No, a rouge state is one that wears too much makeup.

Hell, we might as well get a jury full of hackers with Asperger's. Otherwise, he won't really have a jury of his peers.
Well, if it needs a new home, I'd be willing to taking it off your hands, sans SIM card.
