    I am ok with increased surveillance powers for police as long as the proper checks are put in place to ensure that these powers are not abused. This is why the police needs a warrant to search your house, or to wiretap your phone. These checks and balances are essential to any new surveillance powers given to the police to ensure that they cannot abuse the powers they have been given.

    Back in the day most households would survive on one income, which meant that one parent would be at home much more often, and be able to take a more active role in their children's loves.

    Now most households require two incomes, so parents have less time to devote to their children

    This is only part of the reason this is happening

    It's not Bush's fault he did not cause global warming, but he does not want to deal with the problem, and as the president that is not a good thing. BUSH: "I realize that this is a big problem and the solution will not be easy, so in the interest of my fellow Americans I have decided not to deal with the situation." Has Bush even admitted that the climate is warming or does he still pretend all is well? (not a troll I really want to know... a link would be nice)

    The diference is that said hi-fiset exists in teh physical world, and if u take it then i cant use it. if u use your Wi-fi connection u can still use it, and if i am using all your bandwidth then just kick me off

    If the network is OPEN then u should be able to use it at will. if you don't want anyone to use your wireless network then secure it somehow. Now anyone that wants u use it has to break you security and that can be considered a crime. If it's OPEN its fair game.

    it really does not matter who funded a peer reviewed study. However feel free to scrutinize the methodology of the paper or any of the literature cited

    how else can politicians determine whether a complex statistical report has been "paid for" by an interested party?

    Maybe they could look at the stats used in the study and see if any assumptions have been violated. Stats don't lie they only mislead those that don't understand them.
