They completely forget to mention User Mode Linux, which is a well established and stable linux only offering, and many of the VPS (virtual private server) hosts you see advertised are running on UML.
It seems that as Xen makes progress, UML is getting ignored.
If more manufacturers took a leaf from Dell and installed Firefox on all new computers, then over time firefox's user base can only go up. It's getting buy-in from pc manufacturers thats more important than trying to beat IE with features (and therefore bloat)
Downloaded the linked version, and tried running it, on a clean XP SP2 box, and got a "missing MSVCR71.DLL" error - seems he's linked it to a VC 2003 runtime dll, but not shoved it into the installer. Grabbed a copy from a.NET 1.1 redistributable ( system32\URTTemp folder ). Running the "step2.cmd" batchfile, rather than the "evolution.cmd" batch file seems to work better.
Not a great start, but the webdav shared calendar support seems quite a bit faster than sunbird, so that's got to be a step in the right direction.
Last I heard, there had been a military coup overthrowing the government, and the country is now under a dictatorship, run by a Captain Hook. Doesn't sound like the happy place it used to be.
Its not about being broken, its about trust. Do none of you remember back in 95 what happened to NeverNeverLand.
The US wanted to invade to close all of the Pirate Training Camps, but the NeverNeverLand government was vocal across the internet in claiming there were no training camps, just theme parks. So what happened, the US kicked NeverNeverLands domain (.nn) out of the root servers. Suddenly no one in NeverNeverLand could email one another, the government collapsed and the country went into chaos.
But worse, nobody could access any.nn websites, so nobody knew what was happening, and you couldn't email.nn anymore. It was like NeverNeverLand just dissappeared off the map, and soon people forgot it was there, forgot it ever existed.
Now it's just an legend, like atlantis, and all because the US kicked.nn off of the root servers.
It seems nowdays with computers being so commonplace that most folk are just not interested in 'how computers work' anymore. Thats certainly what I see when I get called round to fix peoples machines. They just want them to work.
The issue over how efficiently we can produce ethanol is not important, it's that we start using it thats important. Even petrolium wasn't efficient to produce when we started with cars, and now look at the plants that make it.
The sooner we start using a fuel we can grow, even if it's not efficient, the sooner our dependance on fossil fuels will end.
Its not just firefox and safari that have problems with these sites, more folk are using pdas of even mobile phones to browse for info on the net, and Sites with fancy frontpages especially using flash or IE specific javascript are alienating customers every day.
Isn't there someway we can shame the developers into always ensuring there is a simple way into their sites.
This also applies to blind surfers who use browsers that speak the page to them. So many sites are inaccessible to them

If Russian Courts can't close a russian website how does the BPI expect a British court to manage any better ?
So how long until the car drives you home if you've hit the bar too hard ?
No more soft drinks for the "designated driver".
You can already install firefox without user intervention, it's a one line change in the config.ini to set "Run Mode=Silent"

Try running the step2.cmd rather than the evolution.cmd , and you should get a meaningful error message.

Just before the warning about how piracy is putting the movie industry out of work.
that geeks have lost their only excuse for not using deodorant ?
Some firebrigades do use flamethrowers.

Perhaps we
One question they haven't answered ... Whats the point of a keyboard where every key is a screen ?
Are they trying to force touch typists to look at the keyboard like everyone else has to?
But how do you correctly identify which sites to target. It will probably cause even more collateral damage than dns block lists.
Fighting fire with fire usually results in damage to both sides (friendly fire anyone?)
Why are they doing this, when they could put their energy into tracking the spammers so they can be prosecuted.
Only sending spammers to jail AND taking away ALL their assets (cash/cars/houses) is going to deter them.
