The trick to being a successful criminal (or so i've read) is to assume that you will be caught and plan ahead: don't brag, have your harddrives encrypted and off when not in use, never use a handle associated with one you box from home, etc. But most importantly don't break anymore laws than you absolutely have to to gain your objective because each one furthers your sentencing. These just seem obvious but as the parent says people let their guard down when they think that no one will ever catch them.
I would add to that don't post about the precautions you take on slashdot.
I think that to say "Facebook will be the worlds largest bank" is about as accurate as saying "Farmville will be the world's largest agricultural business".
People who don't have a Facebook account should get one or risk having a financial profile created for them says founder and president of Metal International, Ken Rutkowski.
If that's true its a crap bank. Can you imagine Bank of America, Barclays, or BNP Paribas saying "if you don't have an account already you better open one or someone else might do it in your name and build up a financial profile in your name"? If they are going to be a bank they should do some level of customer checking.
The example doesn't work. Also even if it did it would be "marking the first such scripting language alternative to JavaScript" only for people who want to restrict their website to Chrome users.
Also the language used is a bit prejudicial. Did the US "back down" on its decision to ban exports of strong algorithms or did it reconsider? Historically did they "back down" on segregation laws, or come to a greater understanding of equality?
I admit that this can't be done on a stock iPhone, but the whole innovation is that they're writing code on a mobile device, which people have been doing for years, in fact completely set up by end users.
This is very important because they will probably try to patent this idea with a view to stopping other people doing it. Having a ready list of prior art could prevent that
What is it with that dumb as fuck 'Yes' meme shit?
It's not a meme, it's been around a long time, it's an answer to both.
To clarify if you don't get it: "Are you talking about Microsoft of Google?" Yes, both Microsoft AND Google were being referenced.
Oh for Shiv's sake:
True OR false == TRUE
Its a joke for those who understand boolean algebra
Its hard to tell because the article contains no facts or assumptions, but I think it is working on the assumption that the Mars space craft and all fuel will have to be lifted from the earth in one go. If we assemble the craft in earth orbit then fuel it in multiple trips the energy requirements to get it to Mars orbit will be much lower. At that point it can again use a "lander" vehicle to take the astronauts and equipment to the surface, a lot of which can be left behind for the return trip (as was done with the moonshots).
No, you didn't communicate the riff.
You communicated a trigger which activated the riff which was already embedded in the receiver, kinda like a lookup table:-)
A bit like PirateBay communicating the torrent header!
Careful there. You are making me remember the flute riff and that could be expensive for both of us.
I wonder just how long it will be before any communication which enables recall of copyrighted material needs a license. After all I clearly communicated the riff to you over a computer network.

Yippee. Yet another Australian "story".
Just what we needed.
Its a story from the land down under.
Where systems blow and denials thunder.
Parliament almost two years ago, the proposal has stalled in the Council, facing fierce opposition from a bloc of mainly Northern and Eastern European countries. Why Denmark has deserted this blocking minority is unclear.
The Northern and Eastern European countries are the ones where bribery is not endemic. It looks as though someone in Denmark has just gone the way of the southern countries...
it's bandwidth that matters.
A 200mph train link giving affordable travel between distant cities would be much more useful that a celebrity supersonic service.

Can you run these non-tcl demos? http://code.google.com/chrome/nativeclient/docs/examples.html ... if not, there's something wrong with your chrome installation.
There's something wrong with my chrome installation then (or more likely my company's firewall is blocking some essential component)
I'd like to see how that would fly in Canada or any other country with strict privacy laws.
Probably the same way that it does for a high-street bank of paypal. In the UK at least you authorise them to perform credit and identity checks.
Let's back WAY up.
Facebook as a BANK?!
How wrong is THAT?
"FaceBook. The bank that Likes you."

Any advice, other than do not use these services would be welcome. The dos and donts.
Use your neighbour's wifi and a account in their name.
Dicks.
A request for your IP address has already been registered.

Any smashed PC is replaced by the oldest in stock. new replacements for those which reach the budgeted life intact.
For $25 do I only get ads for a week or two? Or for the rest of the devices lifetime? It's not worth the discount if the latter.
Do you mean "the former" or are you being sarcastic?
Did you have a brain fart?
Whoops yes!

It sort of does when you make the comment using a computer that uses electricity, at least over short-medium terms.
I'm peddling like hell to run this laptop you insensitive clod.

Your lack of knowledge of boolean algebra disturbs me.
Who else thought they were talking about Web 2.0, was confused by the comments and then went back and read TFA?
I like how easy he makes it sound :-)
Things you need to hack the Airport Express:
1. Girlfriend
2. A pinch of dissappointment
3. Wilingness to break open glued Apple casing
You'd be surprised at how many slashdotters would fail at step 1.
Wow, my next car will be a Mitsubishi.

Someone just got rich in the state of Denmark.
I am absolutely certain of thes. From TFA:
Parliament almost two years ago, the proposal has stalled in the Council, facing fierce opposition from a bloc of mainly Northern and Eastern European countries. Why Denmark has deserted this blocking minority is unclear.
