    Just ignoring your random racism for a moment, just because there's a *request* does not mean it will be honoured. The balance between public right to know and your privacy is still involved, and ultimately it's the Information Commissioner that gets to decide.

    You know something. If I changed religion my race would be the same. If I became a communist or a tea party member I would still be the same race. Difficult concept I know.

    Surely its the other way round - the one way to guarantee that you won't be blackmailed over something is full public disclosure. Nobody's going to blackmail Graham Norton by threatening to reveal he's gay - but the quiet bloke who keeps it secret on the other hand might just pay.

    True, but a lot of the requests come from politicians with dodgy pasts and paedophiles. I expect Muslims to get in on the act soon as well (I'm sure they'll say "it's not relevant that I called for the subjugation of non-muslims and women now I'm running for Bradford council"!).

    If "diversity" means putting more of those simpletons into positions of power, fuck diversity.

    You realise there may be all sorts of legitimate reasons for this. Maybe the approve because they see Obama as no worse than most other politicians, but see that he also provides a positive role-model for blacks. Maybe more black people are in demographics that benefit from his policies. Maybe they value different things to you when evaluating how good he is.

    Until it can sit on my wrist for a year or so without needing my attention, it's not a watch, it's an annoyance.

    That's certainly reasonable for replaceable batteries, but with a chargeable watch I could accept anything that would easily cover two weeks. That said my solar powered radio watch has been going for five years without having to change batteries or adjust it and I'd need some pretty good features to persuade me to move on from that,

    Assuming that a thought requires a medium, even if I am a figment of something else's imagination that imagination defines this universe as it is. Of course, when observing from within there is no way we can tell if a thought really requires something to carry it or if the concept of it is sufficient for it to exist. (*)

    * Since everyone can be wrong and by definition not knowing that they are wrong there is no way to prove any statement to be correct, including this one. Note that this isn't a paradox, this statement can be correct even if its correctness is non-provable.

    Though "this universe as it is" may be very different from "this universe as we think it is", or "this universe as 'observed' by us" as observation could just be a dream or simulation
