Haven't read the book, but am now thinking about it. One thing in your post caught my attention and raises a question: where does he get the idea that the human mind can be either both or correct, not to mention both? Seems a strange notion.
Btw, if you are interested in a truly wonderful book about the interdependencies of mind and matter in the human brain, read Zen and the Brain by James H. Austin
I need to ask this once, and this seems a good place: what's the deal with coral cache? I have never, not once, ever, been able to get to a link to coral cache that was posted to/. It has always been as slashdotted as the original page itself. Am I the only one?

Probably in Europe were Apple has botched it totally. Apples are to be seen again recently, but the prices are still outrageous compared to USD. I mean, EUR prices on apple.de are approx. the same as USD prices on apple com, when they should be much lower. And prices are even good now compared to how Apple has priced itself out of the German market in the 90ies (and that's already after taking into account the quality of the machines)
For the 1,000,000th time: source can be copied without taking away. If it was possible to copy your home and your food without effort and without taking away from you, you'd be a mega-asshole to deny it to someone who needs it
From my experience with Gentoo from 2 years ago: If you like a particular logger and don't use syslog, you find that many packages can't log with the logger you chose. I guess that's what you get if xou think you can circumvent Debian's lengthy test cycle by pulling in random projects' sources into a huge distro.
I think you misread Icaza here. He does not say that the applications can be ported, but the developers, so to speak:
We are making Linux a fertile ground for third-party developers: we are allowing developers with Windows/.NET expertise to use and distribute software for Linux, easing the adoption of Linux
Religious studies people and socialogists who tell such drivel should first learn a bit about religions in Europe. Maybe then they wouldn't base their theories on their imaginations
"Experimental" is different as it is not a complete distribution, but only bits and pieces. Also, stuff from experimental will never be installed by apt-get/aptitude unless you explicitly request it
A CLI ftp cient ("ftp") was part of Win 3.1 and still is in XP. Granted, a CLI client is not newbie safe. However, ftp is a protocol that is understood by Windows Explorer. While ftp:// is currently by courtesy of the browser embedded into Win, this does not have to be so.
Didn't mean to imply that. I guess there are clinical cases, but am quite sure that the vast majority of kids treated for it are not.
And then, it should ring an alarm bell when something as ADD has only shown up in recent years, when we had kids forever. Could be a hint that something has changed to the worse in the upbringing? Maybe turn off the TV more? Seriously, when I noticed that cable stations started to air kid's cartoons in the moring from 5 to 7, I _knew trouble was around the corner. I guarantee you that when I watch an hour of cartoons before/instead of breakfast, I'd develop ADD too
"given that the average album only has 1-2 songs on it that I really want"
Seems you are listending to the wrong artists. For the record, I've started to buy what I still can get from the SST catalog (http://www.sstsuperstore.com/, but they don't have the complete catalog anymore), and I think I need at least 50% of the LPs they have released (and wnat the rest anyway), and most of these 50% have the whole LP full of great songs. Imagine that
Problem is that WinFS won't tag the contents of a picture, and this is what would be the application that would make it useful. Otherwise I don't see anything I can't already do
Are users in general scared of Excel too? After all it has tabs

Thanks to you too :)
Thanks a lot

I can only assume you answered to the wrong posting. What you wrote has nothing to do with what I wrote.
Tridge is not an ODSL employee but a contractor. This has been covered extensively

From the linked page:
CFLAGS="-09 -march=s6000 -pipe=65536 -funroll-every-loop -mrice -mabi=rice -omg-optimized --disable-all-instructions -DREENABLE_FAST_EXECUTION"
-O9!!! -funroll-every-loop!!!
ROFLMAO. I just hope people doing this don't bother upstream with unreproducible bugs resulting from this

Acrobat is not a viewer (Acrobat Reader is), it's a creator. A viewer would not need a toolbar in Office to create PDFs, would it? :)

Plus, when I went online with Win 3.1 I simply recieved a CDROM from my ISP with all necessary software

That would be a penalty for murder then, not suicide
can't focus on things and seem bored, tired, and shy.
Sounds just like another way of being a kid to me.

Congrats, you just killed the reputation of the company
Of course, if you just want the theme, not the default theme, you could switch to it yourself :)
