    The same isn't true for space. It's a whole other game than the transcontinental railroad and the internet. Unless there is genuine consistent, continued profitability from commercial space ventures, there won't be a sustainable market.

    Stop pretending your questions haven't been answered. Climate reacts to whatever forces it to change at the time; humans are now the dominant forcing. While there are uncertainties with climate models, they successfully reproduce the past and have made predictions that have been subsequently confirmed by observations. And the rest.

    But that won't stop you from posting the same nonsense on the next article about climate.

    Humans are not and will never be the dominant forcing to climate change. The sun will always be at the top. And quit citing from just one source site. Makes you look stupid.

    That explanation would be appropriate when comparing Star Trek and Babylon 5. It's not appropriate when comparing Star Trek and Star Wars because they're so different. Star Wars is not Science Fiction. It's Fantasy that happens to have space ships. Star Wars is derivative; not of Star Trek, but of 1930s adventure serials and prototypical myths from many cultures. Star Wars intentionally draws on universal themes to appeal to everyone and I have no problem with that. Star Trek often has themes that appeal to a smaller audience which I also appreciate. I agree with the author of TFA that it doesn't make much sense to compare them head to head.

    Star Trek is fantasy, as well. It cloaks itself in pseudo-science pretty well to cover that, but it's just as true.

    Or have a different set of needs and wants to you. You are correct. The iPad is less open than many Android devices. Your mistake is in assuming that this is as important to everyone as it is to you.     (1) Don't call them ursine retards. They are not ursine. Retard. (2) Bamboo is not easy to digest for energy, as compared to a lot of other plants. (3) Many animals need certain environment cues for mating, or they aren't interested. It has to do a lot with their native environment and what situations ensure optimal survival for the offspring and the mother. You might want to study this field called "evolution". It'll help explain this. We basically have trouble figuring out what these cues are. We really can't blame the pandas for that one.

    Giant Pandas(Ailuropoda melanoleuca) are bears, and, therefore they are ursine. Retard.

    So he can only be regarded as a scientist if he puts forth ideas that check out. I don't think you understand how science works (Observe, theorize, test, repeat.) His contribution so far: We know some things that do not cause autism and we have more things to test.

    If none of your theories or ideas pan out then you are a poor scientist. Not that he won't eventually stumble onto something relevant, but at this point his credibility is not very strong.

    Before the Republican party allied itself with the bible-thumpers, the Republican party was considered the Liberal side while the Democrats were the conservatives. The democrats didn't change. The Republicans simply swung even further to the extreme than the Democrats... enough to make them look "liberal" by comparison. It wasn't always the way we see it today you know.

    But we were still under the thumb of the two party political machine.

    Insightful post? What the hell kind of evidence did you give? A fire is evidence that Sealand isn't sovreign? Or the fact that someone counterfeited their passports? The fact of the matter is that two established countries (The UK and Germany) have both recognized Sealand's sovereignty. You might as well use the DCR as an example, look at all the (completely unrelated) problems they have!

    Point in fact, the UK never recognized Sealand's sovereignty. And in fact, the UK has had complete jurisdiction over Sealand since 1987. As for Germany, that is debatable.

    True story, put a little more research into your statements, the tomato is a great example of a plant that fits into both categories perfectly.

    Scientifically, it is a fruit no matter which way you slice it. People can call it a vegetable all they want, and the law can designate it whatever it wants, but it does not change the fact that it is a fruit.

    Almost correct. But you got the wrong Kenyan mountain. Mt Kilamanjaro (which has had several spellings) is about 2 degrees south of the equator.

    I'm not sure how to score this. Maybe you should get one point for each of the country names, and the mountain names should each be worth a point for whoever gets them right. ;-)

    First, Mt. Kilimanjaro is not in Kenya, it is in Tanzania. The first place is Mt. Kenya in Kenya. The second place is Cayambe in Ecuador.

    That's the "divide and conquer" strategy that the "rich and powerful" use.

    Pit one economically disadvantaged group against another. It's being done here in the States and in many European countries. It's something that the political elite in Africa and parts of Asia have done for centuries. It's not new at all.

    How do you think the Tea Party started? How many Tea Partiers do you think know what the TARP program or the debt ceiling really mean? All they know that they believe the blacks and mexicans are getting something that they're not getting. One of the most "conservative" states is Texas, that has a $27 billion budget deficit and takes more Federal taxpayer money than almost any other state, yet they're mad at "big government's wasteful ways". They're a welfare state that hates the Welfare State.

    You better believe that the people who own private prison corporations are praying that we get London-style riots over here. Every time they see an arrest they're thinking "ka-ching!"

    You make it sound like the rich and powerful orchestrated the rioting/looting in the UK. It had nothing to do with the rich and powerful. It was mindless, thrill-seeking criminals who took advantage of a peaceful protest and turned it ugly. And you know nothing of the tea party movement.

    Real artists work outside the system, they have been doing it for ages, a real artist is going for the art to innovate the art not for the money so the problem I guess the general definition of the word "Artist" got fucked up somewhere in the 70's.

    Maybe in the 3070s B.C. There is no such thing as a "real artist," if your criteria is they don't take money/compensation to do it. Do you think Beethoven was giving away his compositions? People do what they can to make money to survive and even thrive. This includes artists. Sure, some may love what they do and never consider it work, but they certainly aren't going to do it for free unless they already have money.

    They didn't cut 4 Trillion over 10 Years. They said they did, but it us up to future legislatures to make it happen. They did nothing except put on a dog and pony show for the kids at home. Nothing meaningful happened.

    4 trillion wasn't part of the deal. It was more like ~2.1 trillion- an initial 900B and then a super-committee would decided later on 1.2 trillion. If it had been 4 trillion this thread might not exist.
