In a movie most of the work is done by actors, where as in a video a small percentage of the work put into the game is from voice acting. The majority is the programmers, and digital artists and so forth.
Naturally in a movie actors are going to be paid more than on a video game.
I disagree with programming for the good of the company. I would say you should program to further your own knowledge of programming. Once you become knowledgeable enough you will get promoted and receive credit for your code.
I don't think the problem is necessarily with the ESRB. Fortunately for the movie industry a rating can be assign much more easily, because they only have to watch a movie for 1 - 3 hours. For a video game it could take 20 hours to get through the basic content, and then for a full completion you can expect many multiples of that. I don't think 30 minutes is enough to give an accurate rating of the game, but I don't think we can expect any organization to be able to keep up with rating, in some cases, week long games.
Perhaps an alternative would be to force the video game companies to give 2 hours of the most violent/controversial adult materials included in the game. ESRB rates the game based on this footage, if it turns out that there is anything else in the game that the company didn't release, then the suffer huge penalties.
Penalties will have to be further designed to make them substantial even to the super rich game companies. Perhaps a percentage of the revenue they made off of the game.
I agree with him on the fact that M rated games should not be sold to minors. I don't have kids, but I know if I did about half the games that I play would not be appropriate for them.
imo eBay shouldn't have Ads. They already make money from people listing items. Or they should allow free listing and stop outsourcing their ads so they can get higher profit margin off them.
For any hardcore players it only took like 3-5 days to level 60-70. For addicts with no time it takes about 2 weeks (thats me =)) For average players id say a month. And for the slow ones, 2 month. Burning Crusade has almost been out 2 months now.
2 things, there is probably somthing saying if you use an exploit you will get your account deleted and also just the sheer fact that he used such a underhanded way to cheat the online auction system... He deserves his account deleted.
Customers love Eye Candy. =)
Microsoft needs to do this so they can compete with MacOSX. But I am glad I will have an excuse to upgrade my computer again.
Viva la Vista.
I do hope they have the ability to turn off all that eye candy shit though. My Win XP is set to look like Win 98 still. I like the simplicity of the Windows OS. I am not amused by cheap tricks. oooo look a shiney nickel!
I think it is messed up that people have these hate sites. I don't think you should hate anyone. But the thing is, everyone should have a right to their opinon. I think it was Voltaire who said something to the effect of, "I disagree with what you say, but I will stake my life to defend your right to say it." I think I butchered that quote.
I know PHP/Javascript/HTML relitivly well. Do you think this book would be an easy read for me. Or would I really have to sit down and try. Heh, got the book for christmas and just looking for time to read it.
absoluty nothing, all it is showing is that just because we cant explain somthing at one time doesnt mean we wont figure it out later. Which is what the ID community use to try to disprove scientists.
ID Community says U don't know everything so god must exist.
Scientist just came back proving that they can explain stuff that hasnt been explained yet. They are not trying to disprove anything.
There will always be a stupid fight between scientist and christians. I am glad scientists figured out how bees fly because now we can explain one more thing that we couldnt before. However this does not disprove ID, but hopefully this will show the ID community that just because we can not explain something right now, doesn't mean a supreme being has to exist for it to work.
If science is proved all wrong does that mean god exists? No it does not. If god is disproved does that mean all science is right? No it does not. If C is not = to 1, does that mean C = 2.... NO it does not. C could = 3 or 4 or 5 or 6 or so on. For all we know all science could be wrong and all religions could be wrong. I just think the answer is 42.
In beta tests the company puts in a few neat features that will attract players. They let people play it for free to stress test the servers, not look for bugs. And hopefully get some fanboys that got really excited about a few gimmicks to promote the game for them. lol, NDA even the company that put it out doesn't care that much about it. They know for a fact it will be broken. It is free marketing.
AJAX is basicly the combination of those technologies together, HTML, XML, Javascript, PHP, and DHTML. In order to be ready for the future of web apps I suggest learning all this languages very well.
This is why people keep making private servers. Then the Game Devs get all mad at people who do it. I say turn off the subscription and do what Guild Wars is doing... release a update every 6 months or so.
Yeah, the whole MMORPG vs FPS thing is funny. I think finally it just boils down to ur preferance. I like MMORPGs more although I am trying to get back into FPS again.... Its irritating when u havnt played one in like 2 years. Can't kill anyone damnit...... But to clarify my first post. If you have 100 dollars in the bank and you have to decide between taking Susie out so she'll put out or playing a MMORPG... PLZ FOR GOD SAKES TAKE SUSIE OUT. I was trying to look more at the people who make $10 dollars or more an hour and at least 600-700 dollars a month. Come on... 15 dollars fools. heh peace
Obviously if the story is true then he would be fired for a unjust cause and if you are fired for a unjust cause then you can recieve benfiits. I knwo cause i did, Mr. HR
Well there is a law in some places about when u have your dogs outside you have to have a leash on them. Well what if 2 years down the line the law changed to be interpreted saying those leashes that extend like 100 FT should be illegal too cause when it is fully extended u dont have the control over the dog u use to have. Should the people who were using that type of leash for the past 2 years be fined for breaking the new interpetation of the law?
That is why there are Ex Post Facto laws. You can be punished for under laws that didnt exist when u broke the law. So I dont see why u would be punished under a new interpitation of the law when they obviously interprited it diffrently when you broke it.
My hands dont shake constantly but the do shake sometimes... Enough that I get made fun of by my friends for it. Heh, I dont suffer from depression though.....I hate this world.
When he made that statement there wernt laws in place at the time saying that he couldn't make a program for the sole purpose of distributing pirated software. Right? (Im not sure really)
Just recently it was detirmented that it is illegal to have a P2P program that specificly is used to distrubute pirated files... therefor as long as ur not telling people to do it you cant get in trouble.
So wouldnt he be protected by Ex Post Facto laws? So unless he starts advocating software piracy or other kinds of digital piracy using his software in the future he can't get in trouble. Unless I misunderstood somthing.

Idiots indeed.

There are three kinds of lies; lies, damned lies, and statistics.

Well that accounts for about 4.25 million of the downloads per year. heh
Fun = Gameplay, a lot of reviews base stuff on gameplay
It is about time girls relized how awsome games are. Maybe one day gamers will ratio 1:1

Heh, yeah lets exploit the addiction instead of help it. I wonder what the google ads would say. =)
