No one's brought it up yet, so I will... As the price/convenience/long term compatibility and viability of storage goes down and down, I wonder to what end we will end up keeping this stuff? How many hours of video that you're paying (in time, money, security against fire/damage/loss, etc) to keep up you're actually going to watch? Sure, it's nice to have every single event in your child's life on demand at the touch of a button/click of a mouse, but aren't just plain old memories ok? Does his entire life have to be recorded and watchable?

At some point, I came to the realization that I had downloaded over 6 solid months worth of music. This doesn't include CD's, LP's, or 7 inch records, of which I probably have 1000 total. If I were able to put all that music on a big loop, and not repeat anything, I'm thinking it would last over 12 months. Some of these I'll probably never listen to. I'm thinking the same is true for the submitter's videos.

My parents have a big box of photographs from their childhoods, as well as those of their parents. There are some great photos in that box, and I could and have spent hours going through them. Each time I do, I make a mental note that one day I'll scan them and make them digital. Then I realize that we only drag out that box once or twice a year, and never do anything with the photos anyway, and resign to scan them once it gets even cheaper.

Perhaps one day I'll get to use my pager/phone as second path authentication for the bank? I am hoping for it, but any improvement in the meantime is a good thing.

My father in law had a keyfob lcd thing to which his employer would send him passwords when he wanted to use his takehome work laptop. When he turned it on, it sent a signal to the home base, and the keyfob would show a number. He used this number to log in. This way, if the laptop got stolen, it was effectively worthless.

Is this what you're talking about?
    1. I go to login to my bank account.
    2. The bank server sends a text message to my phone with a one time key/password.
    3. I enter the password/key, so the bank has a better idea that I am who I say I am.

    Or...
    1. ID theif uses my login info to try to get into my online account.
    2. The bank server sends a text message to my phone with a one time key/password.
    3. I'm not logging in at the moment, so I call the bank to check in, etc. Interesting.

Would you mind discussing some of what goes into enfranchising every voter?

My goodness, how much groceries are you buying?

I can't imagine what a family of four would have to contend with....hell one trip to Sam's and you'd need to tow about 8-10 of those bicycle carts bare minimum.

Once a week? That seems like a lot of groceries, even for a family of 4.

Most of us do not live in an urban setting my friend.

You mean, put the two departments farther apart, in order to make the store more profitable, don't you?
They don't put the 4 main sections (produce, dairy, meat, frozen) of grocery stores on opposite sides of the store by accident. It behooves them to have you go by product you're not interested in.
If you're not interested in buying it in the first place, and can avoid that section of the store altogether, you're not going to buy it. If you're not interested in buying it in the first place, and you have to walk through/near/by the section on your way to your other purchases/checkout, then you might buy it, ultimately making the store more money.
