Yes, I'd love to see you flame your manager when he sends you a spreadsheet to update (you know, in the REAL WORLD?). Why is it that the "linux way" is to flame anyone who doesn't comform to YOUR out-of-date e-mail client? There is a place for e-mail attachments, believe it or not.
So it is true then, Slashdot IS a "linux portal" and not a news site for 'cool' geek news anymore?

Beethoven, with Interix in NT4 I can have the same 'window' logged in as any user as I want. I think there is even a utility in the NT4 resource kit wich allows you to 'su' to another user without having to log off. I don't know this for certain, and unlike the majority of others here, i don't like to comment on things which I don't know what I'm talking about. Furthermore, in Windows 2000 (I'm running release-candidate 1 on my windows box as we speak) allows you to run any (from wht I can see) application as whatever user you want (assuming you have the access and password that is).
Yes, and on top of this Softway is suposed to be releasing a new version of Interix this summer which is suposed to have many improvements to make it even more of a true "unix" feel. Those that take advantage of both Windows 2000 and this new Interix are going to be sitting very nicely.
It's amazing how some of you people are such fair-weathered fans. You whine about how ZD is just another arm for Microsoft's FUD propaganda. But look now! ZD is challenging the test results, so all of a sudden ZD isn't the bad guy anymore.
Instead of blindly attacking anything that isn't PRO-Linux, try to open your eyes a little, stop your screaming and actually look at what's going on. It worries me that the "linux community" is becoming more and more a bunch of guys who pat eachother on the backs and fanatically reject anything that isn't PRO-LINUX. Do you really think this is a good direction?
Also, I would like the suggest that the moderators go re-read the Moderation guidelines. Especially the part about not downgrading a post simply because you don't agree with the viewpoint. Go look over the mindcraft thread and make note that most of the -1 posts are well-written, but take the side of Mindcraft. I thought opensource was about freedom of speech and against censorship?
Don't be a bunch of hypocrites and censor anything that is not PRO-LINUX.
Has anyone noticed that it's a triggered response from the linux 'community' to instantly shout "FUD!" about something (even if they don't read it/don't know what they are talking about) simply because it's not pro-linux? Hell in this case, it's not for or against linux, it's reporting about two diff distributions of linux. These ideas about everything being apart of a vast Microsoft conspiracy to spread FUD about linux is really starting to get old. Some of you watch too much x-files. Perhaps slashdot should change the slogan to "News for fanatics, stuff only about linux"? BTW, I noticed that zdnet has a direct link to a "Linux Resources" from it's main starting page. (http://www.zdnet.com/enterprise/linux/) - I hardly consider that to be "99% of the stuff that is on zd-net seems to be, well, slanted in a major ass-kissing way towards Redmond"
There have been ways to port things to unix for quite some time. Only when Microsoft is thinking about it do the linux fanatics come out of the woodwork to whine about it. http://www.mainsoft.com/
You can do pretty much any kind of unix command line shell stuff (among many other things) with Interix (http://www.interix.com) or CYGWIN32 (http://www.cygnus.com).

It seems that the new moderators are moderating based not on what is a 'good' post, but rather on what they agree/disagree with.
I couldn't have said it better myself. Some of these people are so two-faced.

Do you notice a pattern here?
If it isn't pro-linux, it's FUD.

Where did they make an announcement about 'porting' Office?
...Or did you not read the article (like most slashdot posters)?
It's nice to see that the typical slashdot posters are representing the linux/opensource community in such a grown-up way.
... And slashdot.org isn't propaganda favoring linux???
No, unix zealots are too busy whining about Microsoft and NT to discuss any of the benefits of unix.
Turn off X-files and go outside.
... It seems to be what the linux/slashdot community does best.
