  1. the next on Ask Slashdot: What Is the Best Position To Work For Long Hours? · · Score: 1

Our work environment people always say: The best position is the next position. Don't use one position all the time. Change between different working positions. That is the real advantage of using a table that can change the height. Also vary how you keep you feet. Either have a dedicated foot rest that you use once in a while or use a small cabinet or similar to raise your feet for 5-10 minutes every hour. And remember to take a few walks during the day. Take a walk up the stairs to get out of the basement once in a while. Stairs are good for the legs.

Music lobby group, the BPI, welcomed the move, saying music creators 'deserve to be paid for their work just like everyone else'

I agree. It's just unfortunate that when you buy mainstream music only a very tiny percentage goes to the music creators. Most of it goes to record label fat cats and towards lobbying for shit like this ban.

What's the problem? You are supporting the creative (book keeping) arts! Not only that, the "current" market is a win-win situation for the record labels...They get twice what they are worth and they are happy.

Then why are they even called the same name? You'd think someone would have thought to rename one as anti-diabetes.

Because back in the old days before they figured out exactly what the problem was, the primary medical indicator was excess levels of sugar in the urine. Which is why it in several languages is known commonly as "suger-disease".

  4. Obviously piracy on APB To Close Mere Months After Launch · · Score: 1

From what I know about the entertainment industry, the reason for failure is pretty obvious: rampant piracy! We really gotta crack down on all those..wait what? MMO? Damn, hope someone doesn't try to compare this to other recent failures due to piracy...

  5. a lament for the lost King of Dragon Pass on The Unsung Heroes of PC Gaming History · · Score: 1

My vote definitely goes for the turnbased strategy/RPG King of Dragon Pass by A-Sharp.
No moving graphics, but hand-drawn still-pictures and beautiful music. Plus the entire game has a really cool story and since it consists of loads of random events it is eminently suitable for several playthroughs. This is a game where you are rewarded for thinking.

The second place probably goes to Emperor of the Fading Suns. A pretty cool space strategy game spanning multiple hex-based planets a la civilization connected by wormholes. The problem was that it was riddled with bugs that made the entire game unbalanced. Several mods have corrected this and made the game what it was meant to be: a universe based on Dune with interplanetary conquests and a bad-ass church going after heretics.

Some noteworthy mentions are probably from that old genre of 1st person RPG/strategy games which includes Dune, Alien Legacy and others.
